How is the Nancy Collins Swamp Thing run?

I like this one. Pretty sure at the end of the book some pages run in the wrong order though, and the page ending "roar!" Is meant to be followed by the page with the dinosaur head that precedes it

Chester Brown also fits into this I think. Character limit

If you don't already have it, there are copies of Marbles In My Underpants on Ebay right now priced at "new lavish hardcover reprint" prices. But yeah it should be more available (and I want to see the stuff in her minicomic Sociopath too)

Obviously people my age (and younger) will talk your ear off about seeing fucked-up stuff on the internet but the internet itself is a protective scrim and the way they process what they were exposed to through that is very different

The '90s comics-makers I love but whose work seems too transgressive to be reprinted - Dave Cooper, Jess Johnson, Renee French, Seven Miles A Second - I was wondering if anything made their work "Gen X" & realized: It is all partly about the freedom and consequent horror of unsupervised childhood

I actually don't think the appeal of older work should be reduced to nostalgia, FWIW. Much of the interest is in how the modern moment of that time was addressed, and approaches unexplored further abound, due to the procession of time and new moments

I think this is part of why "art comics" is always going "but I like that other stuff too," because while they express desire for an inchoate future they attempt to manifest, one also has to admit the appeal of nostalgia

Sometimes on here there are prompts like "introduce yourself with five shows you've been to" and I have a hard time thinking of the hundreds (thousands?) of DIY shows I attended/encouraged others to attend on a Baltimore listserv to think of one that would be exemplary or stand in for the whole

Image from Schizoid by Takashi Itsuki, an untranslated manga. A person in a two-piece bathing suit has a sign that says "welcome to shit island" around their neck while their erect penis is tucked against the string waistband of their bottoms while a guy who's like an aviator or something seems upset. This was pulled from Noel Freibert's Toybox Coffin webstore, although this comic is now sold out

I only read the first arc but I really liked the circle of villain friends bit. I appreciate, after reading so many Elseworlds titles which barely have an idea, the way Absolute fucked with the structure. I like AMM and AWW more, but Batman was the one that made me interested in other Absolute books

No it was Acme/Safeway generic brand "Strawberry Lemon" in a plastic bottle. Good to know to avoid Soleil. La Croix has a watermelon flavor that's really good btw, might sip one at this art opening I'm about to head over to

I do not want to participate in Record Store Day as a consumer, but I do want to hear the Sonic Youth "Diamond Seas" release where John Oswald edits live jams together

I regret to inform you that what I purchased believing it to be a normal supermarket seltzer is in fact sweetened with aspartame. This must be what the gangsters in movies whose cars are wired to explode when they turn the ignition feel

I have been a member of one or more credit unions my entire adult life, and I genuinely believe this is what the online community needs to get out from under the heel of censorship and de-banking. Please express your interest using the (non-binding, anonymous) survey below:

Malarial Dream, by Alvarius B. 9 track album

I don't know if you ever went deep with Sun City Girls, but this new Alvarius B record is in the Funeral Mariachi zone, recorded in Egypt and has that hot weather atmosphere perfectly timed to what I'm going through where I am

Been thinking I should post about how it's too bad computers don't have optical drives anymore because enhanced CDs, where an album could have a little game on it, were a cool technology

This Post Is Not Funny This post is not funny, although it theorizes about comedy in a way where you as a reader have to accept the premise that I can be funny, k...

Having some thoughts which may or may not make sense, but are certainly reflective of Bluesky discourse, Dave Chappelle getting mad at his jokes being weaponized, and Evangelical Christians contending with Trump being Satanic

When the heat gets to sweltering
That's the time I'm in need of a seltzering
There are days I think the idea of a sandwich stinks
That's when I open up my fridge full of drinks
I don't care what the government thinks
I got me a fridge full of drinks
