Dobby is a special type of weave that is often used in traditional Japanese clothing. These two new solids nicely accentuate the colors in the print which I have named Grapevine in Indigo. These three are all brand new in the shop from Japan and on the website now. Get inspired and make something

We have received a nice large restock of silk charmeuse in solid color. Here is the range of yellows, greens and blues we processed into our stock today. These are all 100% silk crepe back satin. That means one side has a matte finish and the other side has a satin finish

We got all dressed up to attend a beach wedding today. First up a natural to white linen panel with a beautiful and subtle gradation in the middle. The hand is light and soft and slightly sheer like a handkerchief linen. On the right she wears a new linen jersey knit in white

Here is American Rose silk twill. That feeling you get when you smile so much your cheeks hurt, you laugh so much your mascara runs. May you all feel it when you slip into this exquisite designer silk from Emanual Ungaro. The body is divine, soft but firm, nubile and pliable.

With Elfriede on the mend, we are sorry to have to say goodbye to Amara who will return home to Detroit soon. She won’t be going home empty handed though. She made this extraordinary XXXL King size quilt top using batiks entirely from our collection. Look at all those curved seams!

Today on the dress form we have focused our color palette around this beautiful, looser weave wool blend bouclé plaid. This would make a fun Chanel style jacket. It’s shown paired with a luscious viscose satin from Italy in purple but our stretch silk charmeuse in shocking pink is also perfect

I am relieved to let you know that Elfriede had her knee replacement surgery yesterday and that it went smoothly. She is home now and well tended by her sister from Germany! In the meantime I would like to introduce you to Amara. She will be helping us while Elfriede recuperates from surgery.

Beat as One silk twill set the color scheme today, taupe with a couple shades of pink. Carnation Pink silk dupioni is a dream to drape with. It pleats and drapes, breaks and falls and glows in the sun. Here it is paired with Pantone’s color of the year Mocha Mousse in billowing silk taffeta.

Do you know about Ramie? Also known as grass linen or grasscloth, it’s a natural fiber derived from the stalks of the ramie plant, a member of the nettle family. Known for its strength, durability, and luxurious texture, Ramie is nearly six times stronger than cotton and twice as strong as flax.
