HAPPY GETCHA DAY TO THE LITTLE LORD. A GENTLEMAN! A SCHOLAR!! A VERY GOOD BOII!!!
A black cat sleeping. He's using a woman's arm for a pillow and has tucked his paws up into her hand.
Thank you Basil for your continued service in saying good morning as soon as I get up, sitting with me while I'm working and writing, and tucking me in at night π€. He's the best little pal I gotta shout it from the rooftops
A black cat with green eyes looks into the camera
When we picked him up from the shelter, he cried the WHOLE way home and then void-catted himself into the bottom shelf of the bookcase, where he hid for 3 days. He sped-ate until he puked. Now he comes to greet guests at the door and eats without panic.

I can't believe il signore has been with us for SIX years! I'm gonna get emotional in a thread about it

The third Mario movie should be a straight adaptation of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead but with Wario and Waluigi.

When you see something like this you have to understand that it's rage bait. That this person's goal is to draw attention to himself and his "work" by making people angry. That's all this is.

The cover art for Making Heyer, which depicts hosts Devan and Eve as 18th century peasants sitting in front of a haystack, their tools resting at their sides. Devan is reading a book and Eve has a big mug of tea.
Hi #Romancelandia! Making Heyer is a new podcast about taking a critical eye to Georgette Heyer by reading her works in publication order. And if you're a little wary of that as a project, I'd love to make a pitch for why we're worth a listen!
surely some of you are interested in a podcast that asks "does Georgette Heyer have the fujoshi spirit?"
We've made something game-breakingly daring for Hunt today, but idk if the world is prepared π€
(I've got a cameo in this vid!)

The novel we cover (The Black Moth) has an absolute fop of a hero (he's a highwayman and disgraced noble), a magnetic and truly sinister villain, and a horse named Jenny. So should be decently entertaining.
One day @evegoldenwoods.bsky.social and I realized we'd been talking about historical romances for almost ten??? Years??? So here, a couple of writers talking shop about a looming and complicated section of our favorite genre and its history. We had fun recording, maybe you'll have fun listening!
Episode 1 of Making Heyer is live! (Actually for real this time) Join Devan and Eve as we talk about who Georgette Heyer is, why we want to do the podcast even though she sucks, and then dive into our feelings about her first novel, The Black Moth directory.libsyn.com/episode/inde...
LRT German is a good metric of how much space you need for the text in your UI once it's translated, but Polish is truly the final boss
If thereβs even a chance project might get localized, when youβre designing your ui take a reasonable piece of placeholder text and translate it to German before deciding whether you have βenough roomβ.
Just because it's fun to try, consider how to POSSIBLY convey "orange you glad I didn't say banana" in Turkish. It's not just the direct pun, it's the context that this joke is known by every English speaker, it's extremely corny, and children love to hate it. All that has to be considered too.
I work with translators and localizers all the time and I am CONSTANTLY answering questions from actual humans about this or that nuance, to choose the right word in the target language from all the many options. AI doesn't ask, doesn't check. It will just spit stuff that's wrong, and I won't know!
Does the predictive text model understand the context of your game and why that joke is funny? No? And what then, are you going to break your whole ass NDA and tell the open source model about your unreleased content?
"AI can do translation," sure, if you're using Google translate to help you read the side of a pack of crackers. But real quick, if you write a game in English, and that game has a pun in it, and that joke absolutely won't work in Spanish or Chinese or French, what happens then?
You can take the girl out of DC, etc.

Multiple game studios have recently closed because their titles couldn't compete with established live-service games like Fortnite. Meanwhile, you can also literally work on Fortnite and get laid off and Tim Sweeney remains a billionaire.
Something has to change. The time is now.

this is not a dig at Kinney or a "should have known better" since I have been there, but I did learn the hard way to never put my body on the line for crunch or give up weekends and attending important family milestones with the expectation of company loyalty or a company even noticing or caring
