I wondered if 2026 was going to be able to top 2025 in terms of s-tier trans lit but so far signs point to HELL FUCKIN YEAH

this sounds like something out of a bulgakov novel
Yeah, I have never been able to go the other way either. Love Harding, but you can’t allow me to hug the griffin and expect me to sacrifice it later.
I'm making one last push to let people know about this online talk -- sponsored by the British Library in conjunction with their current exhibition on fairy tales. The live stream starts at 7:30 tonight, but if you buy a ticket *before* the event you can watch it any time over the next 7 days.
Cool review of THE BUILD-A-MONSTER WORKSHOP by Pedro Iniguez in CEMETERY DANCE: “The variety of approaches to the theme of ‘monster’ is so vast that any fan of speculative poetry will find something of value in between these covers…”

I immediately messaged @astoriabookshop.bsky.social about this, but you should know about it too
If you folks like sterling and handmade goods and are not already following my twelve wonderful jewelry goblins while we fling shiny stuff into the universe, I would implore that you do so. This is our main revenue stream, and our community is great!

There are some important things to remember in terms of Awards-shortlist day etiquette. A short thread.
Even folks I really like and respect make some blunders on this stuff.
1) Allow people to enjoy the shortlist. Avoid dismissing the finalists (whomever they are) for at least a month.
Being my friend means I will see your three voice messages in a row and raise you with a thousand words spread out over sixteen texts
Neon pixel art of an amazon in a sleeveless leather top and miniskirt with a Y2K-style visible midriff. She has a huge blond pony updo and a big sword.
Pixel character portrait of a woman with a mess of brown hair, big, upturned blue eyes, and pursed, pouty-looking lips.
ASCII art of a a brown-haired, blue-eyed woman stretched out while a bloody dagger hovers over her midriff. She looks displeased about this.

my new zine, Shareware Made Me Trans, is now out!! ~6000 words (and lots of images) on the 90s games that shaped my gender identity, including windows 3.1 amazons, sapphic crpg romances, and my own teenage fetish games.

I actually read it around the same time I was starting Seize The Press Mag, and Joe sent me a nightmarish fever dream of short story called “Eating Bees From The Ass Of God” that ended up in our first issue and remains one of our most iconic stories.
I saw Joe’s writing recently described as ‘transcendental, baroque, lyrical alchemy’. Wingspan was my first encounter with it and it altered my brain chemistry. Love seeing this book still getting traction and now an audiobook years later.
All of his businesses and property should be nationalized and dissolved and he should be stripped of literally every single asset and dollar. Put him in public housing and let him live off of whatever UBI the next Congress passes.
Please don't tell me again how woke and great the Chicago pope is.
There are reasons I have expressly requested to never be taken to a Catholic hospital for any reason whatsoever. This piece touches on some of them.

a weird cartoony animal that is shaped kinda like a pakicetus on a colorful background with text. "This nervous Pakicetus (I think) is here to tell you about Nino's BookCon appearance. I guess I have a brand now and it's weird animals that are free on Canva." In a speech bubble for the pakicetus: "yes hello great to be here. I promise this isn't a threat display, haha unless?"
A pakicetus on a colorful background. In a speech bubble is the following text: Queer Horror: Then & Now. Sunday, 4/19, 12:30, Room 402. Horror has always been queer, and now even more proudly so. Fifteen home health aides started a hunger strike on Thursday after the City Council failed to advance a bill banning 24-hour shifts, an issue that has roiled the mostly immigrant women working in the industry and patients who rely on round-the-clock care.

A screenshot of the employee controlled Instagram account shows a post from staff with over 6,300 likes and hundred of reshares. The post reads "Hey Y'all, long time (10 years 💔) employee of Vortex Doughnuts here."
A photo of a text exchange between an employee and owner Mollie Skalski. The employee says "Hey I really need to know because I have auto pays due the next couple days are we getting our paychecks this week?" Mollie replies "Unfortunately that is one of the reasons why we closed abruptly. We don't have enough money for payroll or any of the other things that need paid. There is more money going out than coming in. We tried to get a loan to help with that but no luck. I would suggest you apply for emergency unemployment. That's always why we were offering the equipment to offset that. I know that's not what you want to hear and again we are truly sorry."
The owner of Vortex Doughnuts in Asheville concealed the imminent closure of the store and now refuses to give employees their final paychecks. Staff had been seeking to purchase the business 💔
this is such a lovely and thoughtful essay about cultural gender presentation
