That's... look, I'll take Griffith at his word that he wasn't trying to seem borderline-fanatically bigoted, but really man; this could have used a second draft. 03

目 TheCybersmith @thecybersmith.bsk... • 2h • Joined May '23 Huh. The film's treatment of Lincoln is surprisingly sympathetic. I think I can see what Griffith was going for, but some of the choices he made really detract from the more nuanced ideas he wanted to put across (why do the black characters speak like that?) 031 04 TheCybersmith @thecybersmith.bsky.social • Joined May '23 THAT'S NOT A TRIAL! Please read this article and respond to it, we are talking in circles here.
Tony, the Hammer and Sickle are a symbol of socialism more broadly. The flag of the USSR had it, but the symbol well predates the USSR and is used by socialist parties all over the world. You are exhibiting profound ignorance here.
The issue there is that by implying that “Vlad” is a shameful name to have, you *are* insulting them regardless of your intent. Meanwhile, I personally do not think that “vlad” is an insidious name so I’m not offended. But I do prefer you just refer to me as Star and argue on the merits.
Where is the Soviet flag exactly? I don’t even see one. I am a socialist and I believe that the USSR was a force of good for the world in helping the global south resist American imperialism, but that doesn’t mean I endorse any form of ethnic nationalism.
No, Putin is a conservative. He in fact he dislikes Lenin for his creation of the modern Ukrainian state and boundaries separating the Russian SSR and Ukrainian SSR. Putin in fact is more ideologically alighted with the Russian Tsars.
But again, you aren’t just insulting Russians by using “Vlad.”
Assuming you are not simply hostile to the Bernie wing of the Party your skepticism is perfectly commendable, and rational. But skepticism must come with investigation and evidence gathering. If you can’t support him that’s fine! But he isn’t a Nazi.

Also @vermincourage.bsky.social assuming you are pro-Ukraine, “Vlad” doesn’t work as an insult, the President of Ukraine is also a “Vlad” it is a common name in Ukraine too and thus you are just as likely to offend Ukrainians by implying Vlad is a shameful name. As for my name, it’s just “Star.”
Also not sure why you are calling me “Vlad” do you believe I am a vampire or are you assuming that socialists must all be Russian for some reason?
Again, his private comments that reflect his actual inner thoughts not meant for public consumption show that he was sincere about his anti-fascism. If he lacked such an online record of understanding your concern, but reason shows us he’s definitely hostile to Nazis.

If you are an anti-imperialist who is active in opposing American imperialism abroad and the genocide in Gaza, I will not critique you for taking a consistent anti-imperialist stance. But if you are merely a liberal, who generally supports the Dem establishment, your faves have all done worse.

Oh they do. The people you need to worry about are the parts of the Democratic base who don’t vote, not out of protest but because your nominees keep running to the center and campaigning with Liz Cheney which leaves them uninterested and uninspired.
I know. He was basically security at an embassy. My own instincts tell me, especially that he left and spoke about how he was disgusted with the experience that he was not some psychopath who can never be trusted but I understand the people who can’t bring themselves to change their mind.
I doubt it’s that common of a phenomenon. I think a lot of people just really hate Schumer/Jeffries and want to punish them.

BlueSky people need to realize they live in a bubble. I understand if leftists can’t support Platner, for working with Blackwater as it’s a principled anti-imperialist stance but it’s clear Platner is sincere in his pro-worker, anti-bigotry stances. He’s no Nazi. jacobin.com/2025/10/plat...
It’s a fair concern to have but Fetterman never had a history of sincere left wing pro-working class, anti-bigotry comments online that he thought were anonymous. We must be vigilant but he seems different.

He literally willingly aided and abetted the genocide of the Palestinian people. A genocide he could have stopped at any point.
I hope he feels a fraction of the pain he’s caused this world.
