when came upon korean shamanism in my research, i learned about Sansin—god of the mountain. for people who believe in this—many do, 10,000+ Sansin shrines in korea alone—its said to grant blessings + provide protection while also being a guardian who wards out evil!

this is so helpful! yes, when doing this design i went down the rabbit hole. some scholars think the folk song originated in the jeongseon era while others think further back in goryeo. apparently the song had been passed down through generations well before the first known manuscript of it in 1756!
if im creating a bts shirt with the text ‘Arirang’ and want to include a ‘circa/est’ year, which of these makes the most sense?
a) year arirang was 1st recorded - 1896
b) year bts released their arirang - 2026
