Final VFX Sumbission for the VFX elective
Had fun with creating these VFX, just wish I wasn't so busy with other stuff this semester.

Exhibition finished. It was very exhausting, but extremely cool!
Many people came and played it for very long, which was a surprise!
(Kudos to the kids, who try-harded our game the hard way and beat it lmao)

Gonna exhibit our semester project game today with other universities projects! I am very excited!

We are exhibiting one of our semester projects during the gamescom along with some other universities this year!!
Am now helping out with the construction of the booths!

Hey we decided to create an account for the semester project I'm working along with others of the group!
Check it out when you're interested!
Meet the Team!
Hey! :D We are the Fun-Guys, a 6th semester student team from Hochschule Darmstadt, currently working on our semester project:
Fungus Takeover! โจ
(a fast paced action and roguelite game!)
Here Behind the Scenes, Game Updates, Usertestings & more will be posted! Follow along on our journey!๐

Managed to display one sprite on the screen. Might as well do a screensaver.
If only you could insert disks into the SNES.

Have been doing some research work with a SNES library called pvSNESlib.
Here is me testing out displaying text on the screen.
This is played on an SNES emulator.

Something I learned in the VFX course, is that instead of defining one jump arc via Animation Curve, you can instead just define Animation Curves for the Height and, especially, one for the Time!
This way I could animate the different bounces more easily!
This is so genius!
VFX Elective:
Everything is a bouncing ball
...but this time animated in a VFX asset
Made with Unity's VFX Graph

You're welcome! :3
It sure is difficult. You prob gotta look into Blend Trees! Depending on what you want. You could create like 2 Blend Trees with 2D Direction Blend Type & have the 2 Blend-Trees be connected via a bool as a condition (Can't tell if that's solving your issues tho) ๐ค

Yeah Unity's Animator is tough X(
It's very finicky and very prone to do spaghetti nodes with.
There's a lot of stuff you can know about the Animator like
Sub-StateMachines or Blend Trees that can ease the process for a bit (organization and stuff), but yeah it's still pain to deal with...
You mean with Unity's Animator? Or other program (like Blender)?
Thank you!
Well I'm still a beginner, like REALLY A BEGINNER, I'm living through tutorials myself right now lmao
A look into the VFX Graph itself... A lot of mess going on there...
...just don't look into the VFX Graph please...
First VFX Elective Assignment:
Making a VFX solely with cubes and the theme Energy!
Made with Unity's VFX Graph

Gonna try to post stuff about this semester here!
Also I'm going to be a elective for VFX creation (I'M FINALLY LEARNING VFX LEGITIMATELY AAAAAAA)
and one for learning retro console game development, which sounds interesting. Maybe I can maximize my code performance lol
So 6th semester is starting with a new project
"Fungus Takeover", where you, a fungus, capture and convert enemies and expand your armies and fight as a mass inside procedurally generated levels. Let's see how that goes!
It was a german game jam after all :P
...and "bombenprank" is an inside joke in the german community.
That one time I helped with code...

I with two friends participated in a Game Jam last weekend. This time not as a coder, but as a 3D Tech and VFX Artist. Especially focused on Polish, what did I learn?
