Now we’re going to be pulling back on supporting our local businesses, nonprofits, etc. bc we can’t afford to do those things anymore. Abolute shit sandwich we’re all forced to eat.

Absolutely galling that my wife has a $10k tax bill bc her business was more successful in 2025 (partially bc she had to lay off her only emplyee due to costs!) & know that the money is further lining the pockets of rich ppl instead of providing services to people in need.

Scott Evans is so good that it SEEMS like he’s just yapping because he’s so nonchalant and his guests are so comfortable. Same with Sean Evans, honestly. I think they make it look easy, so people THINK it’s easy. It’s not. Good interviewing requires incredible listening & improvisation skills.

Once again, I am looking for podcast recs. Long-form journalism/storytelling. True crime is not my fave, but ok if it has a compelling sociopolitical angle.

My mother, grandfather, & a number of other family members died of colon cancer. You better believe I get that colonoscopy every time my health reminder tells me to. I’m sure a colonoscopy (or at least the prep for it) is much worse than a mammogram & it really isn’t as bad as ppl make it out to be.

At the time (2017ish), if the capacity of the business was of a certain size, they were obligated to have a men’s & a women’s restroom (it’s since changed, I think). If that is NOT the case in Boise, for example, then trans-friendly businesses should just slap gender neutral labels on all restrooms.

One thing I’m genuinely curious about—I wonder what the city/county codes are pertaining to restroom construction in businesses. When some friends of mine were starting a new business here in Spokane, they wanted to put in gender neutral restrooms, but couldn’t bc of city code.

This specific style came about probably 7 or so years ago. My SIL, who fancies herself a wellness influencer, used to write like this. She is finally, FINALLY, moving away from it. I had to mute her for awhile because I found it so annoying.

This podcast has prompted a lot of reflection for me. I’m close in age to the host & it made me revisit some of the relationships I had w/teachers & those of my classmates. As a former teacher, I’ve also been thinking about how different things are, (or not for certain kinds of teachers).

Yeah, I see at the bottom that there are individual pages for winners (like a post that’s just called 4,000 Holes), but it certainly isn’t navigable like in years past. I would also jump around to categories w/in categories that I cared about (best burger, for example). I can’t do that this year.

Maybe it’s my browser, but I’m having trouble accessing the lists in a coherent way. When I click on Best of Food, for example, it sends me to another landing page with the same tiles. If I click on the Best of Food thumbnail, I go to the same landing page again. I’m in a neverending loop.

I’m pretty sure Sarah Dixit has tattoos. Not sure about any others.
