The second air layer I took from my maple. The first one was super small and may not make it but it was already dead on the branch. This one has great roots. #bonsai #airlayer

Sounds like a great day indeed.
Had a garden and get things done day with my bf. Potted up some pomegranate seeds I germinated. Took pictures of all 36 of my pro bonsai and bonsai trees and had a bevy or two while celebrating freedom on this Juneteenth. Seeds, maples and hinoki.
Monday feels
This stuff doesn’t look very protect-and-serve-y
Omg so pretty
All the time! Lol
I'm going to have to try to document my trees a little bit better to really record progression.
Thank you.
Yanked from my yard. Got a bunch of mame pots to try out. Was eyeing this little buddy protected against the house, in moss. Wanted to get it out of the ground before it got too big or got eventually got taken out by the gardeners. Will see if it survives.
Finally built a bench for my many baby trees. Finished making it and realized Imma need a bigger bench lol. This is the prototype, improvements will be pending.
Some Japanese trees for bonsai inspo.
#shunkaenbonsaimuseum trip photo dump. Some of my stand out favorite trees from this beautiful garden/museum.
While in Japan I knew I couldn't leave without visiting at least 1 bonsai Garden, well apparently I picked at random one of the world's most famous bonsai museums. #shunkaenbonsaimuseum it was beautiful and I got to nerd out in front of my friends for a bit. Here's a collection of my favorite roots.
In Japan and saw these pines at the airport. They're about 6 feet tall but remind me of my deceased Japanese white pine but honestly have no clue what type of pine these are. They're just really cute. #bonsai #bonsaiinspo

Thuja occidentalis. Did well most of the winter then in the last 2 weeks dried up & is practically dead. Lots of feeder Roots, nice & healthy & when i scratched the trunk it's still got life in it but other than that most foliage was burnt & gone. Saved what I could of new growth. COS: 30% #bonsai
Cryptomeria japonica. Will say this one has a great nebari that you can't really see in this picture but flares quite nicely. Very affected by the cold. The lower branches had some damage. We will see if it survives this trim. #bonsai
Out with the 'Vid for the week & the steroids I was on gave me a bit of energy so I finally messed with my trees. Do I think they'll all make it to next fall? Nah. Think alot of these didn't do well over the winter but I will have to keep notes on what many things I will probably do wrong. #bonsai
