Finally settled on my contribution: $1,200 plus fees, which is $100 for each of Carson Beck’s 12 interceptions as quarterback of the 2025 Miami Hurricanes. Go Dawgs. @edsbs.bsky.social @hollyanderson.bsky.social

I really don't think it's saying "the economy is great" or "these people are stupid". He's arguing that the anxiety people feel about the economy are real and the typical metrics pundits and policymakers use to talk about "the economy" aren't doing a good job of reflecting that. Read the last lines:

Screenshot: "People are telling us they’re upset about prices even as the rate of inflation has moderated and even as media coverage of inflation has cooled off. And if you look at the structural data on excess price levels, they really have a point.

Until somebody produces a good, empirical reason to ignore what millions of people are saying every day, I think the burden of proof sits firmly with the people arguing we should."

That is part of what the piece is saying-- many people feel worse about the economy because of higher prices.

All the artificial intelligence in the world can't fix anything if there's no electricity. Bourbon, however, is fixing my feelings about my power going out.

I liked the shoes well enough, but there weren't a tremendous number of styles (loved the colors though!), and I have to imagine their tariffs were through the roof. This all reads "we have a little bit of money and a listing we can milk, so let's bet the whole thing on roulette and hope it works"

JD Vance should have simply chosen a college more hospitable to conservative thought than the University of Georgia. Like Yale for instance.

he showed up to a mostly empty auditorium, got heckled by anti war protesters opposing the war he just humiliatingly failed to negotiate an end to, erika kirk stood him up, and he tried to explain catholicism to the pope. the only way he could’ve had a worse time is if he pissed his pants up there.

I personally think not safe to remain in any personal relationship with anyone who is using LLMs to analyze your relationship, make conclusions about your motives, or determine how to treat you. I think this is beyond red flag—it should be an immediate dealbreaker.

But every competitive authoritarian regime, even the most effective one, has a fail case: that their characteristic corruption, poor governance, and autocratic overreach overwhelms their ability to control information, breeding a massive public backlash.

Can never get over how tawdry the modern Right's view of Western Civilization is; nothing to build, nothing to aspire to, nothing even really to destroy or wage war against, just sullen resentment of their own children and seething hatred of the cities whose economics subsidies their regimes.
