I gotta say I don’t think watching voter turnout throughout the day is very healthy for large amounts of people on twitter

The absolute discourse nuke that Whals and Bottoms are apparently fine candidates according to the polling

Hyde-Smith isn’t Moore though and she said pretty abhorrent stuff about lynchings that activated a lot of Black voters back in 2018.

Moore-Jones needed so much to go right and had it been literally any other R Jones probably wouldn’t have won in that special

It was quite a bit similar at about -20 during the ACA repeal

I think you should go look at polling around then. The ACA Repeal + the Tax Cuts made Trump incredibly unpopular before he rebounded a bit into 2018

Doug Jones won in 2017?

By 1% as a pedo during the height of the ACA repeal in Dec.

Annoying people on twitter still like to bitch that Gideon has money in her campaign account from Maine Senate, but never like to follow up on what the fuck was she supposed to spend it on and how it would have made her win. The airwaves were saturated!

Also big lol that the President’s slush fund Dems are supposed to compete with?? That’s kinda the perks of being a incumbent president is you can fundraise and especially this one rewards you for it

Im not saying this is ideal, but a couple things this guy won’t note is:

•PAC’s/Committee’s get much less ROI than candidate spending

•the likely $250m money sink that is Texas Senate

•the recent elections where Dems got outspent and still won

Money has diminishing returns!

Not to mention, while a lot of barriers still exist they are really used more as scare tactics to de-motivate voters and there are all kinds of Dem groups that fight against that.

So this seemed asked in earnest so I’ll answer earnestly. Black turnout has largely increased over time, but if even 100% of black voters turned out they simply don’t make up enough of a demographic to flips these states

You have to get white voters

That isn’t a sustainable strategy to making Mississippi a lasting battleground though is it which is what the original post was about

I hope Brandon Pressley wins in 2027 for a secondary reason that is I want to see people tie themselves into knots about how Blississippi is coming bro. A gubernatorial race is the same as a Federal race trust

There’s a lot of longshot states you can see a path to becoming Lean R or Purple or Lean D

Nobody has seriously put down how you are going to undo generations of racial animosity

People have somehow memory-holed *just* NRSC/SLF spent about $3m to defend Hyde Smith in 2018.

I am extremely skeptical Hyde Smith comes close to losing and even more skeptical “Mississippi is on the way to be a battleground” but very likely yea National R’s may have to spend which is good

I think he got some unfair criticism, but he acts like he never got it on twitter before.
