Thin line between sad and depressing. Oof. 💔
A man asked me last night what publishing needs to do for literary fiction to begin appealing to men again. I said, as nicely as I could, that, with over 2,000 books published every Tuesday, of which many would appeal to men, it’s not a publishing problem, it’s a men problem.
I feel like you and @jamcharlesworth.bsky.social should make some sort of a wager if either of you makes it to the finals or 🙏🏼 if both of you do. I still think about Santa Monica and Africa.
Oh absolutely @mlfaliveno.bsky.social and Counting Crows🐦⬛ for me, lover of sad songs. Beautifully written, wow, and this: “But Round Here is so sad that sometimes I can’t listen. So sad I skip ahead to Omaha. So sad I can’t resist dipping my toe in the water anyway, and eventually step in.” Yup.
Available June 1! Launch @belmontbooks.bsky.social on June 2. You’re invited.
Amazing essay. Voted for it like 20 times! (I kid!!@marchxness.bsky.social!) But I punched my 1 vote super hard.
Because of course, these are the hardened criminals. The callousness and cruelty is astounding.
I need to know the message… 💫
A masked ICE officials with a 5 year old child
This guy went to work today, put a mask on, kidnapped a 5 year old child, and then used him as bait so both he and his father could be sent behind bars
Minnesota: "School officials say the [5-year-old] child was used as bait. They say [ICE] agents made little Liam knock on the door to ask to be let in in order to see if anyone else was home."
“i want back my rocking chairs, / solipsist sunsets, / & coastal jungle sounds...”
A poem by Renee Nicole Good, who was murdered by ICE earlier today.

We need more of this kind of truth telling.
I’m excited to reveal the cover for my new novel WESTERLY. This gorgeous painting by Rebecca Aldernet represents so much to me and perfectly captures the coastal settings in Ireland and Maine. WESTERLY is about motherhood, sisterhood, secrets, silencing, and women, facing forward, into the wind.
Author of WINTER LOON Susan Donovan Bernhard’s WESTERLY, a family saga about one woman’s journey from post WWII Germany to Ireland to Maine, where she lives with a false identity assumed as a child, with far-reaching, life-altering repercussions for three generations, pitched as for readers of Ann Napolitano, Mary Beth Keane, and Ann Patchett.
So excited to finally announce that my next novel WESTERLY will be published by @amazonpublishing.bsky.social next year! ☘️🌊
CRESTRICTED] ORIENTATION FACT SHEET 64 WAR DEPARTMENT-WASHINGTON 25, D. C. • 24 March 1945 FASCISM! Note For This Week's Discussion: Fascism is not the easiest thing to identify and analyze; nor, once in power, is it easy to destroy. It is important for our future and that of the world that as many of us as possible understand the causes and practices of fascism, in order to combat it. Points to stress are: (1) Fascism is more apt to come to power at a time of economic crisis; (2) fascism inevitably leads to war; (3) it can come to any country; (4) we can best combat it by making our democracy work.
In March of 1945, the US Army issued this "fact sheet" to guide conversations with soldiers on the topic of fascism, paying particular attention to the ongoing threat that domestic fascist movements posed to the US. Their analysis of what a homegrown US fascism would look like is interesting.
Can somebody do something about this, like, anytime now?
I need to know what the H. stands for in JFC when the F is an H because I want to use the full name.
This is quite the post.
1. He unambiguously directs his AG to go after those who investigated him for his crimes
2. He admits being influenced by online chatter
He is mob bossing out in the open, because he knows he has corrupted every federal law enforcement agency into submission.

I know everyone is consumed with other news, but this is a big fucking deal: The Trump administration says that IUDs and the Pill are actually abortions.
Here's what USAID told the NYT about the $10m in birth control they plan to destroy.
