RIP to Wegmans SCAN, another thing ruined by scammers

I asked about this, the city may try to plant some trees in the park but unfortunately my kids will be my age before they provide any comparable shade, unfortunately
Those are some scary looking window wells / walk out stairs for that part of the neighborhood
How’s the sump pump situation in that house?
I love this album

Who is the Robert Moses of Alexandria, wrong answers only.
It’s only a problem if it opens the dvd drive when you walk by to try to trip you
Arlington vs Alexandria has literally always been Pawnee vs Eagleton
Advocacy for road safety improvements is exhausting and demoralizing sometimes when your neighbors are against you
But this is what we're doing it for
I love that he showed up ready to shred. In dress pants and a button down. Totally my vibe.
Is that the First Gentleman clipping in for his ride with the bike bus??
I could probably get away with being a bike only family but it is nice to have an almost paid off EV in the driveway for the random suburban stuff you have to do in NoVA. I really do love my Costco and Wegmans too much.
I genuinely LOVE the fact that I can get in my car on the weekend to go to the store or to my kiddo’s dance class in the suburbs and think “when the heck was the last time I drove this thing”
This is why, despite always enjoying the arts and culture and more chill vibe of Richmond, I’d never be able to live there. The sun belt car culture that permeates all the infrastructure there sucks so bad.
Beyond political conditioning (bc I’ve talked to plenty of left-of-center people from other parts of the U.S. who are a little leery of the subway!) I think this is the biggest reason for the disconnect in who perceives New York as inherently dangerous. Cars change your relationship to the world.
It appears I’ll be joining the Parker Gray ortho family some time next year. I my kids there from Alex Children’s Dental and have been MUCH happier.
Also maxing out my FSA.
Neighbors coming together to advocate for safer streets & bike lanes: dismissed & othered as “powerful bike lobby”
Neighbors coming together to raise $ to sue city over housing policies they don’t like: embraced as civically minded common sense group fighting to save city from a stupid city council
My coworker saw this in person and I am consumed with jealousy

There is some cool history similar to this in Philly and suburbs as well. Rutgers had digitized a bunch of files to include that the route of the Saturday morning ride from the art museum that I used to do has basically been happening on the same roads since the 1920s
Everybody was crying at the end (including me)
My four year old was also heartbroken about “Pou-ga-cha” coming in second
Heck of a sports fan day today between Wout Van Aert and Rory McIlroy
CCS t-shirt goes so hard
“I hate when we have to take the car. It's boring I can't see as much and I feel sick. I like riding my bike to 711 and to soccer. I want to bike by myself but it's not safe right now so my mom and dad won't let me. I want me and more kids to be able to bike and go places not just right on their sidewalk. Biking I can see more around me and I like the sun and the fresh air." - Ellis, age 8
Today’s betterbraddock.org comments so far are absolute gold.
Same, kid. Same.
Yes I was sponsored by bread and it was awesome
As always I appreciate so much what you do, because engagement with listservs makes me crazy.
The way it is spilled over from the internet to the real world feels quite bad. It’s so important to dispel the misinformation but you have to keep your peace!
“Yates funded shadow org” is a deeply hilarious string of words
Everyone singing along to this song in a sold out 930 club was a perfect experience
Can you imagine writing a perfect song at like 25 years old?

Guess I should share betterBraddock.org in this thread since we are finding so many ALX folks who support this project in the thread - we made this site specifically to counter the narrative that we don’t exist - it would be great for you to share your story there! (Subscribe for updates too!)
