It's #MemeMonday again!! So we want to know: are you more #GoodKuchiKopi or #BadKuchiKopi? While we hope and aspire to always use open file formats, sometimes those proprietary formats (looking at you Excel) find their way to us...

My public commentary: Github != Archiving. Public Archiving != Data Sharing. Desirable characteristics weren't about repo dating; they were legit. Consult data librarians before you make messes.
I'd expect better from #NSF ... in any year other than 2025->

Join us on April 29, 4:30-5:30pm Eastern for a DRP Volunteer-led workshop on #webscraping! This will be a #handson opportunity to expand your technical skills to save data (or, as our volunteers put it, get your very own rocket booster!).

I really enjoyed my time at the @pennstateuniv.bsky.social Open Science Bootcamp in August. This May event looks great!

I think this is the first time more than two of us have been able to present at the same time (logistics, etc). So this is exciting!
Threats to federal data: 🔥🔥🔥
The DRP: :💪💾😤
The data: still accessible.
Happy #MemeMonday and #BobsBurgers to all!
Good news to wake up to this morning!
For all those attending the (virtual & free) Big Ten GIS Conference, check out the keynote by a DRP volunteer extraordinaire - Frank Donnelly!

Thanks to both of you! The support and generosity of everyone in different groups have made the past year less terrible for certain! Nice to meet you both!
Today @pegiproject.bsky.social closes out. I was lucky to join a great group. I will miss our discussions, but I'm glad we have sunsetted in a responsible & thoughtful way. PEGI's learnings & insights about government information preservation will live on.

As gov info geeks, we love CRS Reports anyway, but we especially love this one focused on the federal data.
Thanks so much for mentioning our work. And the work continues!

#SaveOurSigns has expanded our project database to include 2,500 new photos and created a new StoryMap visualization to help folks explore the recent leaked NPS dataset. Read more at the @datarescueproject.org blog: www.datarescueproject.org/save-our-sig...
This was a great group to present with. Every one of these hits slightly different but hopefully same goal of raising awareness! Thanks for coming!
We have just too many volunteers
Yessssssssss. I 100% support this.
Feb 3, 2025 - We started fighting to save our data.
July 3, 2025 - We launched #SaveOurSigns with Minn librarians.
April 2026 - We are still talking about the importance of public data as a public good.

@datarescueproject.org
Thank you so much for the offer! We have received funding for storage for our working data, so we are good for now. We are considering the long-term picture for this work, though, so we will take other options into consideration for the future.
Plus such a touching tribute to Elaine Sykes. I was familiar with her work but I wish I knew more. This quote definitely hit hard.
I’m excited to join @uksg.bsky.social for #UKSG2026 & talk about @datarescueproject.org But also keen to learn more about OA publishing & more. I spend so much time in open data that I have to work against professional myopia.
☺️
Thanks so much to @davidprosser.bsky.social for inviting me and to Ed Fay for asking great questions at #RLUK26. I really enjoyed the conversation and talking about the successes and challenges of our work across the #DataRescue community and the @datarescueproject.org
A fun podcast with our partners @safeguardingdata.bsky.social and the SCIOP crew.

New DRP post: Help Protect At-Risk Humanitarian Archives. We aim to support a range of data rescue projects. This one from the Univ of Manchester is an incredible effort to recognize the loss of many small humanitarian archives.

We have a government that wants to censor our right to know, evaluate, & fix global problems. If we don't recognize that reality, we miss the larger impact on the world, and we need more people to speak out.
