...a previous squashed or unsquashed commit. ("/tree" is in the pi software). The lack of namespaces means though that we dont privilege convos to a ref, but must track it as a convo by convention...Thoughts?

But does squash preserve the internal commits? If so, we get the best of both worlds. I want per interaction saving of convo and impact of that part of the convo, but also easy redability with real commit messages. And the "/tree" kinda functionality then happens for free, you just go back to ...

@steveklabnik.com been thinking that jj is particularly suited for agentic dev as a working copy is a commit. Every interaction with the llm can be a commit, just need to run some jj command, and if it all belongs to a bug, as done with gh ot docket or whatever, we can squash later. ...

I apologize for initially being somewhat skeptical of Phillip Morris.

In all of our interactions, they made it profoundly clear that they are unequivocally opposed to any and all use of tobacco products and that they remain committed to partnering with us to achieve the best possible outcome.

Just experienced the most intense tear gassing of my life by federal officers outside the ICE facility in Portland where marchers gathered. There was no fast exit as they indiscriminately threw loads of gas and flash bangs. Children were in the crowd screaming. @oregoncapitalchronicle.com

The biggest risk in this moment is something sociologists call “symbolic compliance.”

That’s when an institution that is violating civil rights gives the public just enough symbolic victories that accountability efforts lose steam before there has been any meaningful change.

A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

Thank you to everyone who’s supported us.

And a special thank you to Illinois elected officials — including many of my opponents — who have condemned this political prosecution by the Trump administration:

I Thought I Knew Silicon Valley. I Was Wrong Tech got what it wanted by electing Trump. A year later, it looks more like a suicide pact.

This is a terrific story about how Silicon Valley has drastically changed, written by the excellent veteran tech reporter Steven Levy. @stevenlevy.bsky.social

A great view over the "Death Hollow" between the towns of Boulder and Escalante.

It is along the Boulder Mail Trail, a wonderful path.

There is life after Git • Flames of Code Background In my professional work, Azure DevOps (ADO) ended up being the forge of choice. While ADO is reliable for standard Git workflows, it falls short when it comes to stacked Pull Requests (PRs)...

This is a very cool advanced #jj-vcs workflow: flames-of-code.netlify.app/blog/my-jj-w...

One day, when it’s safe, when there’s no personal downside to calling a thing what it is, when it’s too late to hold anyone accountable, everyone will have always been against this.

💯 there's gonna have to be purges everywhere. But the problem is even worse: all the talented people have already left with DOGE and politicization...Will we ever get them back?

Is scale all you need? Or is there still a role for incorporating domain knowledge and inductive bias? While I was in Heidelberg, I took some time to write a short essay on this question called "The Bittersweet Lesson".
