Today, a lot of people will be talking about the manifesto that Palantir released. In addition to pouring over what those words mean, I invite you to ground the conversation in what Palantir has already done.

Its work with Israel and ICE show us exactly what it stands for.

Maybe I’m dumb but the technofascistic company putting out a technofascistic mission statement doesn’t really feel like it changes anything?

Like they were always working to this end and everyone already knew it

I mean I guess “oh my god he admit it” but

We Forget About ‘Alligator Alcatraz’ at Our Peril The abuses are piling up, and Democrats and activists are desperate to get the word out.

At the so-called "Alligator Alcatraz" in Florida, "detainees placed in 'the box'—located outside and in direct sunlight—are reportedly forced to endure high temperatures, high humidity, and 'horsefly-size mosquitos.'"

Like, I'll kit out, join a full team with the best of intentions not to be a burden then in 10 seconds the whole team gets ganked out of nowhere. Is it fun? No. Do I keep wanting it to be fun? Kind of! I don't know why! I want it to be a different game and keep at it expecting one of us to change.

Making progress feels great, but I also feel like I am perpetually losing everything and just straining on a treadmill that never goes anywhere. I would like to experience the endgame but am genuinely unsure I can ever reach it. I seem to make okay progress with free kits and lose every time after.

I am drawn to what it is aesthetically and repulsed by what it is mechanically. And apparently because I started now I only have five weeks to complete contracts before a total wipe? Zeroing out all story progress? When doing one contract can take five attempts because I get obliterated by a sniper?

Reading reddit threads, there is so much scorn for anyone who doesn't like the PvP part. "It's the whole game, stupid! Play something else!" Okay, but what if I want to get into it for art and story reasons and not just pure multiplayer competition?

I haven't made it past Dire Marsh and am constantly getting stomped. I'm decent enough at solo Perimeter and have done all the contracts I can there. But now all my contracts are complicated single-run shit for DM or pvp objectives. I find myself really wanting a version where I can be left alone.

I genuinely can't figure out if I like Marathon or if I'm just stressed and finding some kind of odd masochistic relief in it. I usually hate this kind of game. Nightreign made me actively miserable to play it. But for some reason I am vibing with the art direction and rhythm a lot.

Remember when Trump threatened to wipe out a whole civilization? And then backed out of that and talked about forming a deal with Iran? And then dropped that and went to a UFC fight as negotiations fell apart? And then unveiled a triumphal arch and a photo of himself as Jesus?

That was this week.

*centrist voice* so tired of all this division, if only there was something to unify us all regardless of values or morals

ICE has been really good at catching wind of these unannounced visits in other cities recently and flying all the captured migrants out beforehand.

But not today. Well done catching them, Congresswoman. We should expect that all of the detention centers are this bad when they aren’t tipped off.

Pete Hegseth’s holy war: the militant Christian theology animating the US attack on Iran The Bible-thumping US defense secretary is overseeing another strategic disaster in the Middle East. Is this a war or a crusade?

"Hegseth’s distinct combination of piety and bloodlust was most prominently on display at the 25 March worship service at the Pentagon, the first since the war in Iran began, when he prayed for 'overwhelming violence of action against those who deserve no mercy.'"

The end of The Long Dark's story is a moment for me to look at how the game's two pieces fit together, and the role this game has played in my life for the last (whew) 13 years

Impossible to disagree with a single word that Ben Rhodes (Obama era NSC official) is saying here:

Kind of a major problem that the leaders of the opposition party are basically in favor of the war with Iran and find it very convenient that they don't have to do any of the bag holding

It's fine to have however many red bulls you want because I knew a guy who shotgunned cans of rockstar and didn't die and those are 16 oz and clearly unhealthy and the red bulls are only 8-12oz with fruit and floral themes so they must be way healthier

I know there's a million terrible things going on but this is actually up there with the most terrible. The potential end of American nature, paving the way for total exploitation.

Just that, for a series that large, it's impossible not to lose focus and become bored and frustrated with it. Try to take notes and save footage so you don't forget what you felt by the time you get to the end of the project. It's okay to step away from it and do something different.

Sánchez to Trump: Spain won’t ‘applaud those who set the world on fire just because they then show up with a bucket’ Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has emerged as one of the European Union's leading critics of U.S. and Israeli strikes against Iran.

“The Government of Spain will not applaud those who set the world on fire just because they show up with a bucket.”

you or i as americans might not be responsible for this, we might not have wanted it to happen, we might have fought against it. but we are by dint of our simple existence here complicit in it. sit with that. let yourself be sad and ashamed. you can probably handle that, if you're not a coward.
