The key is that, for these folks, "Western Civ" definitiionally means "only the bits that make us feel good about ourselves/uphold our particular values," rather than, say, thinking about why Plato took women's equality out of Republic 2.0 (the Laws) or the lives of 99% of folks in premodern Europe.

Today is the 251st anniversary of Paul Revere's midnight ride to warn the Minutemen of approaching British troops.
I want to take a moment to share an excerpt from the Declaration of Independence's grievances against King George III.
Remind you of anyone?
Losing SLACs (small liberal arts colleges) is absolutely a sign of American academia's decline and the gutting of the humanities in particular.
I'm pretty sure SLACs are a uniquely American phenomenon. Most countries don't have hundreds of small, non-research-oriented colleges dedicated to teaching.
Every time I come back to my mother (who has Alzheimer’s) in the hospital I need to check that the current shift knows what the shift I left does. Sometimes it’s something minor, sometimes it’s something that sets her back a day or two.
I agree that the whole system is awful and needs reform, but from the patient perspective those 12 hour shifts can be great. My experience in both the ER and in a bed is that each shift change is a game of telephone. Patient information gets lost.
Oh hey this is really important to me personally
Personally I think every Republican politician and every Trump voter should be asked if thy approve of this kind of post. Let them take responsibility for it
reminder that the number one issue that the press covered in 2016, the one they told voters was THE MOST IMPORTANT thing in the election, was Hillary Clinton's compliance with Presidential Records Act record-keeping
Honestly, the great crisis of our society is the unwillingness of institutions to inflict consequences.
Impeach the president, fire the sex pests, expel cheating students, excommunicate an unrepentant heretic, prosecute the war criminals.
Believe in your institution enough to enforce its rules.
The party of life, obviously. (This is shocking)
Today is the 128th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s decision on birthright citizenship in U.S. v. Wong Ark Kim.
Yeah, this is absolutely the case. All my moderate friends are like, bring on the firing squads.
lol none of these people ever voted Republican, but they’d say things like, oh, well, McCain isn’t so bad. Now they are ready to burn the city and sow the ground with salt.
A lot of the maddest people I know are moderates. They thought the Republican Party was real and now they want blood or at minimum prison sentences for the whole administration
i’ve always said the generally hellish experience of going through TSA would be improved by bringing in other federal agents with no understanding of airports who love to shoot people
It degrades all of us to have a malignant narcissist as President.
Unlike Donald Trump, Robert Mueller served his country with honor. Unlike Trump, he worked for accountability, justice, and the basic idea that no one is above the law. (1/2)
you know, it doesn't really matter what my opinion of robert mueller was, the president of the united states saying out loud that he's glad a lifelong public servant is dead is terrible fucking behavior and i don't need to clear my throat about what mueller did or did not do in order to say that
Donald Trump slowly turning every Evangelical into an idolator and every liberal into a believer in Satan is a pretty good bit.
Something less terrible, for a change

Not to mention the biggest arsenal in the world to a narcissistic attention-seeker.
This country could have had Kamala Harris, but chose the dumbest man on the planet for a second time.

I’ll definitely go see this one!
I don't know if the constitution has failed us, but I sure know these conglomerations of pathetic worms in the shape of men have failed the constitution.
If the constitution is broken, it is quite literally because the founders could not conceive of men so spineless. It never occurred to them!
1,900 Pounds of Dungeness Crab, Just Add Diners www.nytimes.com/2026/02/23/d...
This is the one thing I missed when my son quit scouts — they had a great crab feed and it was a lot of fun to work
Post Conversation Tyler Oliveira @tyleraloevera Hello Goyim... I have released a 73 minute long documentary on New Jersey's Jewish Invasion.
One of the dudes behind the whole Haitians eating dogs fake scandal has found his second act. Documenting the "Jewish invasion of" *checks notes* New Jersey.
Yes. People used to be more ashamed to be seen to be racist or sexist. In a way, I don’t care what people believe, but I care how they feel empowered to act and speak
When you put it like this, a $75 million bribe to Melania and gutting the Washington Post seems like a small price to pay.
I’m in!
