Earlier this evening: dozens of people gathered in Chicago's far north side Rogers (Phillip) Park in support of an 18-year-old Mather High School student and his mother, who, according to the student's older brother, were abducted from the Chicago immigration court at Ida B. Wells Drive in March.

One can acknowledge the accomplishment and origin of the culture and art form, while also acknowledging when something is harmful, unjust, and abusive. I love and respect KRS, and recorded with him, but the defense of Afrika and saying he should be infallible is WACK AF.
I haven’t had a chance to say much about this, but for those who are up on this, KRS One caping for Africa Bambaattaa ISN’T the move. It does not matter that Afrika was an originator of Hip Hop, defending his actions and the harm caused makes HIP HOP weaker, not stronger.
A view down Lawrence Ave from Rockwell, showing a neon green bike rack and a sapling starting to turn green with buds
A view North on Lawrence by HarvesTime Foods showing two people walking side by side, with room to go past them on the left, and another sapling
A view looking North next to HarvesTime showing a much narrower sidewalk
A view South on Lawrence showing a very wide road and very narrow sidewalks
It makes me so happy to see these saplings on Lawrence blooming this spring, brought in just two years ago with a street redesign!
Look at the last two photos for what it looked like before these changes, with a narrower sidewalk that made it real unpleasant

I was at the march, and just wanted to say it means a lot to trans Chicagoans like me to see our elected reps there supporting us! Thank you
Sometimes, letting it slide isn’t an option. Family is family, get familiar or get educated and come back when you’re down to be included AND inclusive, ya know?
Shout out to @drakewarren.bsky.social who was in attendance and solidarity also!
At front of a march in downtown Chicago, a marcher holds a sign that says Trans people won't be erased. In front of march are safety marshals wearing Indivisible Chicago volunteer vests

Street sweeping starts this week!!!!
Today I felt the joy and solidarity of thousands of Chicagoans taking to the streets! Many thanks to Indivisible Chicago @danielbiss.bsky.social @drakewarren.bsky.social , @catsharpforcook.bsky.social and so many more! We will be here as long after Trump and his ilk are gone & justice is served!
A reversal of the time Dorval Carter didn't show up to his city council hearing wasn't on my bingo card
Fortunately, Transportation & Public Way Vice Chair Ald. Andre Vasquez (40th), the Council's most outspoken transit advocate, was one of the 6 alders who *didn't* lame out on this hearing. Otherwise, Commuters Take Action would have had to revoke his Ghost Bus costume.

Ashland is going through a number of improvements this weekend related to resurfacing and CTA Bus support infrastructure, learn more from our Director of Infrastructure Deirdre O’Connor! Welcome to Pardon Our Dust Episode 1!
Yesterday the City Council ghosted CTA. Shame on us, as the public deserves better!
Many thanks to Chicago Printmakers Collaborative for the No Kings Rally Prints (designed by Prime), to the performers, & co-sponsors (Angelique Guzman, District Councilor Deirdre O’Connor, Cat Sharp, 12th District Commissioner Dem Nominee Drake Warren, and Chicago Students for Change)!
Today in Being Super Lame: The Chicago City Council!
Only five aldermen showed up for a planned quarterly hearing with the Chicago Transit Authority. The CTA's top leaders were ready to face questions. But too few aldermen showed up, so the meeting couldn't start. Lame!
Tomorrow come make posters with us at for the No Kings Rally at 2555 W Lawrence from 6-8pm and get a free print courtesy of Chicago Printmakers Collaborative!

Last night our environmental board in partnership with the 47th, 48th, and 49th Ward Green councils hosted a mixer at Hopleaf - where we talked about the work they're invested in! We were joined by @drakewarren.bsky.social, the Dem nominee 10th District Cook County Commissioner!
Few people know how to throw a party like 46th Ward Ald. Angela Clay! Shout outs to 44th Ward Ald. Bennett Lawson, 10th Ward Ald. Peter Chico, 17th Ward Ald. David Moore, 13th District State Rep Dem Nominee Demi Palecek, School Board Member Ebony DeBerry, and School Boardmember Michilla Blaise!
Ah I see! I just wanted to make sure I clarified how we lead! Lol
Yeah, we don’t operate that way here.
1. If you’re the smartest person in any room, you’re in the wrong room. We work to be non hierarchical, understanding that we have different roles and positions, all which are vital ones.
2. I don’t see that applying here.
3. I work on building commhnity
Cat is her own person and a strong leader. I’ve been fortunate in being surrounded by some great folks and am happy to partner and develop where I can. We are team politically for sure, but Cat was dope even before she was part of our crew!
