Black History Is For Everyone
This February performance of Voices of a People's History takes its inspiration from the new book Black History Is for Everyone, written by New York Public Library educator Brian Jones. Black History challenges our understanding of race, nation, and the stories we tell about who we are. Understanding it challenges our assumptions, helps us see larger forces at work, and gives us glimpses of alternate futures. Featuring Haley Pessin, Jordan Mahome, Kelly "GreenLight" Thomas, Mahogany L. Browne, Margaret Odette, Martha Redbone, Aaron Whitby, Regine Jean Louis, and Ty Jones; narrated by Brian Jones.

During a military-style raid on a building in Chicago’s South Shore, one resident heard a knock on his door.
