This is the banner year for needing to have a drink and then laying down and going to sleep on the couch because you absolutely 100% cannot.

lrp: i saw that site this morning and hated it. anyone can submit any name for any reason. but also they are getting your information. so this is also a database of people who would submit names to such a site. all of this is awful!!
over on threads, this has lead to people promoting a website called "name him," where you can anonymously "name your rapist," which no one seems to realize is a horrible fucking idea. this site also requires you to register with your email before using it, adding more layers to the bad idea.
reposting a few things about misinformation and the left. it happens here too! and it's still bad!

thinking abt this bc there is currently a controversy on tiktok where people are misreading and spreading a statistic from this article, saying that 62 million men were either in or interested in a telegram chat about drugging and raping their female partners when really it was like 1000 people max
Substack CEO Hamish McKenzie: "Email is an important distribution channel. It should not be your only one." then he quotes Mills Baker on his team: "I know l've said this a lot, but I cannot emphasize enough that email will continue to change, to become less deterministically reliable as a means for distributing your work; this is a huge part of why we got into the app and feed business, as you may know! You can blame a few things:"
Substack's CEO now trying to scare people into *only* distributing their content through their proprietary app, not email. (The link he posted warns users away from email.) It's not enough that Substack's locking in publishers & readers with "notes" and comments, now they're escalating tactics.
YAY YAY YAY I wanna play play play!!!
A somewhat crudely drawn comic entitled "Chuck's Day Off" about Chuck, a cat that is a purrista at the cat cafe. Chuck compulsively knocks things off of tables, and this causes some problems for him. First, he knocks over his alarm clock which is totally understandable. But then, he makes coffee and knocks that on the floor, to which he says "oh no, not again!" Because of course, this is a recurring issue for him. Chuck still wants his coffee, so he starts licking the spilled coffee off the floor. But, alas, he realizes that the floor is very dirty. This only means one thing: a necessary confrontation with his nemesis... The Vacuum.
I made my VERY FIRST COMIC today at @lunamothzinefest.bsky.social !!

Amazing that Apple's approach to anything even approaching consenting porn is "not on your life, you filthy pervert" and its approach to nonconsensual porn is, basically, "well, what can ya do"

Our friends at @nhmarf.bsky.social will be vending at the fest tomorrow and bringing their Power Drive! They distribute tons of batteries, cables, and chargers at free stores statewide. Swing by, say hi, and consider donating supplies to help neighbors stay connected.

screencap of a tweet with a photo at the bottom of JD Vance giving a talk, gesturing smugly with his hands Eric Daugherty • @EricLDaugh • 1h • JD VANCE RESPONDS TO POPE LEO: "When the Pope says that God is never on the side of those who wield the sword - there is more than a THOUSAND year tradition of Just war Theory." "In the same way that it's important for the vice president of the United States to be careful when I talk about matters of public policy, I think it's very, very important for the pope to be careful when he talks about matters of theology." "And I think that one of these issues here is that there has been - if you're going to opine on matters of theology, you've got to be careful, you've got to make sure it's anchored in the truth, and that's one of the things that I try to do, and it's certainly something I would expect from the clergy, whether they're Catholic or Protestant."
I’ve given this a great deal of thought, trying to come up with the perfect joke for this moment, and this is what I have so far -
POPE LEO: our religion teaches that this war is bad
VANCE: wow, who died and made YOU head of the Catholic Church??
POPE LEO: well, you should know, you were there
