At the base of a tree in a knot that once had a tree root is an oval wooden decorated door, probably 3" high. A sign on the door says "Welcome". Two small gnomes stand to either side with red pointy hats and big white beards.

In a hole in a tree trunk is a small home, like something a fairy would live in. It has a round door with a sign saying "Welcome" above it.

I went for a walk today along a favorite path and it looks like some new folks have moved in.

NASA isn't why the US doesn't have universal healthcare, or a social safety net. The US doesn't have those things because politicians with the power to provide them choose specifically not to (with varying levels of support from voters). Enthusiasm for human spaceflight doesn't drive that choice.
