Uhhh, with no due process and a heap of profiling, almost 3/4ths of the people terrorized/separated/jailed have no convictions. Only 5% are violent. That seems like a highly inefficient way to use 14 billion dollars (in 2025)

Use empathy to discern is something right or wrong. Just because something is deemed legal right now does not mean it’s right. (I mean, think of those legally “just doing their job” in concentration camps and enforcing white supremacy without due process in the past century…)

How to help:
Inform yourself by consuming a variety of media, especially listening to POC.
Either organize or find groups to get involved with, highlighting your skillset.
If you witness someone’s oppression, speak and act against it.

What’s going on in the US isnothing new, and the words that many (especially white) people are talking about this is upsetting and infuriating to people of color and the indigenous peoples, for they have been struggling with this and telling us this forever.

I’ll start with two books on cults, because I feel like culty thinking is what got us here in the first. Not everyone will commit to reading and learning, but if more of us did this and then shared that info with others when misinformation comes up, I would hope it would plant some helpful seeds.

I want to encourage thinking critically and understanding the roots of today’s problems stem from not knowing, acknowledging, and working through history and what we (should have) learned from it.

This video is not perfect. (That part about the US has never experienced this before - there are thousands of indigenous families missing women and children who would disagree.) But he has a point.

18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it.

This is effectively a snitch on women, people of color, and LGBTQ folks policy. White men can just baselessly accuse any minority of being DEI and get them fired. They created a permission structure to bring back segregation as a matter of policy by calling it anti DEI.

I’ve taken a pretty big step away from social media, largely because most of my older accounts are cattle calls of everyone in my life and it’s painful to see how ugly and uninformed so many are. I’m going to allow this account to be more of a safe haven and honest, authentic space for me.
