the first thing I thought when I saw this baby maracas is "resistor"

but he was so nice and we just talked about random stuff about MIT and Toronto. I just remember feeling like he was a warm, kind soul that could get along with anyone. RIP.

this is such a small thing but when I interviewed at the UofT iSchool in 2018, he wasn't on my schedule, but they squeezed in a time for me to meet him in his office.

The deadline was ~1 month after my son was born so my memory is sort of hazy.

It does make me think about how many exception requests I get from my students though, and how in the real world you can literally have over a years worth of work disregarded because of a formatting error.

I had a paper desk rejected from CHI because I for some reason submitted 2 column instead of 1 column 😭

A full paper submission to CHI is an incredible amount of work, so this was really sad for me. I even have the paper on arxiv in 1 column, so somehow got mixed up and reformatted?

I stopped by the capsule towers a few times while living in tokyo...it still looked wild in person but a little run down (perhaps that's why they took it down)

I recently replaced my old reading pillow from high school with the Casper backrest pillow. I’m not usually one to promo stuff but this pillow is amazing for reading in bed (and also feeding a baby!)

A feel like a lot of stationery / desk organizers are pictured with paper clips. When’s the last time anyone used a paper clip?!

- ok some of this should probably be sterilized so I should put it in the dishwasher

the mental gymnastics of parenting is severely under-appreciated (like most things associated with domestic labor).

like, to merely get the bath ready using our kitchen sink:

- need to first clear the kitchen sink so if we need to dump pee-tainted bath water we don't do it over our dishes

I checked out Books of Wonder for the first time today, the oldest independent children's book store in NYC. Such a cool shop. I like how they organized books by concepts.

helping to AC for CHI. I've ACed for other conferences, but never one of this scale. we had to bid on 257 papers (!!). no wonder reviewers have fatigue...makes me recognize how important titles are for representing your paper because at some point you don't have the energy to fully read abstracts
