Yeah but what if the Melania movie was called Seven Samurai instead? And then when you went to see it they just showed you Akira Kurosawa’s 1954 masterpiece Seven Samurai? I bet you liberals would *love* it then. Typical.

2 panel comic. First panel: a skeleton robot with an atomic purple exoskeleton stands over a burning wasteland and shouts “KEEP MOVING, HUMAN SWINE!” Panel 2: a bunch of humans shackled together are walking through the apocalypse landscape. One says “I gotta say, that clear purple casing looks so sick.”

This is a redraw I did of a comic I drew in my first year of comics! Circa 2022

real shame she was drafted by the orioles, with an org like Tampa or LAD you could see her develop into a potent bullpen weapon

A meme with a character from Watchmen whose name I can’t remember, saying:

It is 1982. I am one year old. Tron bombs at the box office
It is 2010. I am
twenty-nine years old.
Tron bombs at the box office
It is 2025. I am
fourty-four years old.

An illustration of a scene from Fargo drawn in the style of the comic strip The Far Side: Marge encountering the wood chipper situation and exclaiming, “Oh Jeez.”

I’ve been rewatching the Coen Bros filmography this month and while drawing a Barton Fink illustration, it struck me how much their films feel like Far Side cartoons: funny, strange, clever, yet frequently inscrutable. Anyway here’s a thread!

Film review by Jorge Luis Borges of KING KONG (1933): King Kong: A monkey fourteen meters high (some of his fans say fifteen) is obviously charming, but perhaps that is not enough. This monkey is not full of juice; he is a dried out and dusty contraption with angular, clumsy movements. His only virtue-his height-seems not to have greatly impressed the photographer, who persists in not shooting him from below but from above, a plainly mistaken angle that invalidates and annuls his tallness. It should be added that he is hunchbacked and bowlegged, features that also shorten him. To ensure that there is nothing extraordinary about him, they make him fight monsters far stranger than he and find him lodgings in fake caverns the size of a cathedral, where his hard-won stature is lost. A carnal or romantic love for Miss Fay Wray brings to perfection the ruin of this gorilla and of the film as well.

Young Harrison Ford interviewed by David Letterman: "Blade Runner takes place forty years in the future. Not so much science fiction as it is more of a futurism story."
Letterman:"How do things seem to be forty years from now?"
Ford:"It's no musical comedy, David."

Another day in the damn Jason Bourne Response Suite. I'm wearing a blue dress shirt and a headset and just absolutely getting reamed out by a veteran character actor re: him "needing eyes" or whatever. No sense of when or if we're ordering lunch. I tried to get a coffee and Joan Allen glared at me.
