There was a lot of great stuff at #WebflowConf25 like the collaboration feature, code components, and enhanced form options, but one note left a sour taste - in short “AI is here, deal with it.”
We’ve got to find a way to inject some optimism into the discourse and respect the nuance of dissent.
Not a huge substack surfer but this one really resonated with my about making hobbies oriented toward joy, self-fulfillment and free of standards of quality, productivity and commoditization.

Deactivating free fonts from the beginning of my design career is now part of my self care routine

Beautiful Spicebush Swallowtail paid my Phlox a visit as I was doing some minor weeding!
Digidestined, we are so back. Beatbreak looks like we’re finally getting back some of that punk rock attitude that the series has lost over the years. There’s so much personality and we’re finally we’re getting genuinely weird partners again instead of fan favorite clones.
Why, in 2025, have we decided that modern marketing sites need both serif and sans serif fonts in page H1s. Sure it’s cool when you don’t expect it but once it’s become the norm it just looks muddy and off balance!
So many pokéfans have gone from gotta catch em all to gotta flip em all and it’s annoying ofc, but even worse is gotta steal em all. Eventually this kinda stuff will devalue the franchise and frankly, a lot the fan base could use that reality check.
A four panel comic titled Bird Sounds. In panel 1, labeled thrush, a wood thrush sings its beautiful eeohlay song against a forest background. In panel 2, labeled wren, a winter wren delicately sings tweedly tweedly tweedly. In panel 3, labeled warbler, a yellow warbler delicately sings sweet sweet. In panel 4, labeled heron in a death metal font, a heron screams KRAAGH against a background of fire.
Bird sounds.
My father in law shared these antique playing cards with me on our recent trip to Alaska and I was so taken by the simple but elegant use of type and the fact they have survived since the 50s from a trip his father took. Let’s bring back quality that can take a 75 year beating!
Gekkomon is the goofiest little derp and I’m so excited the Digimon franchise seems to be embracing the wacko Y2K aesthetic again
Really wanna do a short video comparing the quality of LCD display ads you catch at airports… the difference of quality you see at IAD vs SFO is massive.
a whimsical drawing mimicking Winnie the Pooh's original book illustrations. Banjo & Kazooie facing backwards holding a puzzle piece surrounded by grass, while Gruntilda's silhouette flies over them.
I do love to draw dreamy bird & bear combos.
Google Authenticator blinking a stream of 6 digit time sensitive codes is the final boss of this, terrible experience
In JP lore, I think John Hammond actually invented dinosaurs

I think about this panel of Magneto pretty often, but especially today.
Does anyone have the number to the claw machine addiction hotline?
The ongoing love affair between Taco Bell and Turnstile has entered peak millennial summer escapism vibes by teaming up with Tony Hawk… they’re marketing my adulthood and adolescence to me and yes, it’s working.
Homeownership comes with the responsibility of being a good steward to your local environment! I get my report card on this aspect every time I walk out my front door and see happy little pollinators and native plants living off the lawn!
Well pepper me up

Always wondered if that lyric in my old school was referring to NOVA… quick google search is saying no, but then why the lyric about William and Mary?!
Big bopper in signature cheetah print jacket standing next to the bride of Frankenstein
Monster Minigolf in Chantilly, VA has this epic mural of the Big Bopper… connection here being his 1958 hit “Chantilly Lace” and that’s about all the reason I need for this to exist.
