more than 70% of incarcerated children and young people in NSW are presumptively innocent (locked up “on remand”). More than half of all incarcerated children, on any given night, in every jurisdiction, are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.

It is very appalling and sometimes quite frightening to see how trans-exclusionary feminists have allied with rightwing attacks on gender. The anti-gender ideology movement is not opposing a specific account of gender, but seeking to eradicate "gender" as a concept or discourse, a field of study, an approach to social power. Sometimes they claim that "sex" alone has scientific standing, but other times they appeal to divine mandates for masculine domination and difference. They don't seem to mind contradicting themselves. The Terfs (trans exclusionary radical feminists) and the so-called gender critical writers have also rejected the important work in feminist philosophy of science showing how culture and nature interact (such as Karen Barad, Donna Haraway, EM Hammonds or Anne Fausto-Sterling) in favor of a regressive and spurious form of biological essentialism. So they will not be part of the coalition that seeks to fight the anti-gender movement. The anti-gender ideology is one of the dominant strains of fascism in our times. So the Terfs will not be part of the contemporary struggle against fascism, one that requires a coalition guided by struggles against racism, nationalism, xenophobia and carceral violence, one that is mindful of the high rates of femicide throughout the world, which include high rates of attacks on trans and genderqueer people. The anti-gender movement circulates a spectre of "gender" as a force of destruction, but they never actually read any works in gender studies. Quick and fearful conclusions take the place of considered judgments. Yes, some work on gender is difficult and not everyone can read it, so we have to do better in reaching a broader public. As important as it is, however, to make complex concepts available to a popular audience, it is equally important to encourage intellectual inquiry as part of public life. Unfortunately, we are living in anti-intellectual times, and neo-fascism is becoming more normalized.

I spent two weeks looking into accusations that Hasan Piker is antisemitic. What I found was damning: prominent organizations and leaders have spread total falsehoods about him.
Whether he's antisemitic is for you to decide. But everyone should care when the ADL & politicians spread disinformation.
the amount of times i’ve defended this man against food snobs and classist fuckos
you’re on your own now, dipshit! gonna tell everyone you got a new kind of crabs doctors hadn’t seen before called SuperCrabs
It’s ok for democrats to hold themselves to a higher standard than Donald Trump.
This is a North American only choice/feature.
american films gave me the impression americans wouldn’t stand for this shit yanno
I hate having to do the "look, they're normal just like us" post, but sometimes you have to do that when American propaganda tries to convince everyone Iranians are "animals".
Bill “abolish ice” kristol, we should all be so lucky at this point.
Embassy: 'The U.S. and Israeli regimes have assassinated our leaders, killed schoolchildren, and attacked hospitals, universities, energy facilities, and desalination plants. They have now struck the Pasteur Vaccine Institute and key road bridges. They openly threaten to bomb our power infrastructure and “return Iran to the Stone Age.” It seems these realities do not reach Australian and EU officials, or they are unwilling to condemn them. Instead, they criticize Iran’s self-defense. The world and history will judge you. Do not stand on the side of Nazis.' Inre Wong: 'Ahead of tonight’s meeting with international counterparts, I spoke with @AnitaAnandMP about the conflict and its impact on global energy markets. We all want to see safe passage restored through the Strait of Hormuz and an end to it being held hostage by the Iranian regime.'

Like your right, but it’s ranked choice voting so you cant really throw your vote away of a third candidate and mills has shown herself unable to campaign her way out of a paper bag. I’d probably sit out the primary.
I agree, but again you should expect to agree with everything other people on your side do.
No other good left wing candidates have much motion so I’m not sure what I do if I was in Maine with their ranked choice voting.
He streams 7 hours a day and his clips are taken out of context, but he was pushing hard for his supporters to vote for harris before the election.
No, I mean supporting Platner is the bad idea. He’s a hard no for me.
Nope, he’s neither of those things.
He’s said a couple of times (in years of 7 hours of a day streaming) that different groups of Israelis are inbred, he’s never said it about any group of Jews outside of Israel.
Good people can have bad opinions.
The evidence is weak. Literal years of footage to comb through and all people found were a couple of “out of frame” coincidences.
Jewish troops will be looking for Muslims hidden in the attics of Christians. Let that sink in. https://x.com/ryangrim/statu/ryangrim/status/2039684274564051425 Quote Ryan Grim @ryangrim · 10h Israel is explicitly warning Christian and Druze residents in southern Lebanon not to hide Muslim residents among them as their forces advance.
And there it is.
If you do it once/twice there’s no reason to think you won’t do it again, that perception will take generations to shift.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will deliver an address to the nation tonight, outlining the government's response to the Middle East conflict and encouraging Australians to "play their part". He is expected to urge Australians to save fuel for areas and industries that "most need it". The address will be simulcast on television and radio across Australia at 7pm AEDT.
people simply love it when you storm out of the gates to support an illegal war, then lecture them about personal responsibility after it makes their lives worse
I can get arrested for wearing a John Farnham song t-shirt in Qld, yet this guy can spread hate against Palestinians live on TV.
The world is fucked! 🤷♂️🤬
Sheer obscenity to humankind
Also the IDFs actions in Gaza have something like 80% support in Israel, from across the political spectrum, include from all the major non-Arab opposition parties, so it’s not just the far right, unless we’re just referring the whole country as “far right”.
Except it’s a clear divide between a big chunk of the party leadership and the vast majority of democratic voters, and one of the main things that cost them votes last election (according to the report the DNC refuses to release), so very relevant to any potential 2028 primary voters.
Deleted a typo, but if you think it was the “framing” of the genocide, rather than Harris’ the support for that genocide that helped cost her the election you’re delusional.
Fuck right of, it’s a simple questions with a clear answer. Yes.
Those landing craft are being built in WA.
They’re cheap renders, but I don’t think they’re AI slop, everything seems pretty on model.
