PDA Ainosuke looks forward to their trip for many reasons. For one, it's the first time they'll be alone in a place where no one knows them. For another, he'll finally have the chance to indulge in the affection he is denied on a daily basis. However, the moment he goes to kiss Tadashi on an anonymous street corner just because, the other man is quick to step away from him. "What are you doing?" Ainosuke snaps, hurt by the rebuff and trying not to show it. "I'm sorry. You surprised me, that's all." Tadashi steps in again and presses a kiss to his cheek, awkwardly. It happens again. Tadashi flinches when Ainosuke reaches for his hand, stiffens when he pulls him closer, ducks away when he leans in for a hug. After the fifth apology that day, Ainosuke realises that it's not personal; Tadashi has simply been trained to be cautious, to hide his affection away. Ainosuke decides then and there that he will just have to train him otherwise. Over the course of their holiday, Ainosuke makes it a rule to hold hands wherever they go. He drops kisses on Tadashi out of the blue — against his lips, his forehead, behind his ear, and anywhere he can reach. He hugs him when they're waiting at traffic lights and when he wants to read his phone over his shoulder. By their trip's end, Tadashi's palms no longer sweat, he no longer flinches, and he leans into Ainosuke's touch rather than away. When they are back in Okinawa, it feels like everything they learned has been lost. The careful distance between them returns and Ainosuke already hates it. The hours of the day seem especially long, that is until he feels it: the brush of Tadashi's fingers against the back of his neck, gentle but deliberate all the same. The casual affection runs through him like electricity. Tadashi gives him a small smile; Ainosuke presses a brief kiss to the corner of it joyfully. It seems he did manage to train him, after all.
