They touch on this in the article but a huge portion of my job as a professional game artist is reference gathering. That process often leads to unexpected places and ideas that benefit the piece in the end. Generating exactly what you want prevents fresh ideas from arising.

If you have a random grayscale map of the tiles, you can use one of the warp nodes to introduce an offset--I used to use a regular directional warp but plugging it into the angle input on the new non-uniform directional warp node works even better IMO
