the horizontal movement of the character depends on paths (splines) placed by me on the map, vertical is independent. i might show how it works in a bit more detail at some point

you'd need to hit the route switch zone near the beginning of the fork to be able to go further into the blue platform

thanks. i define rails via godot's path3d nodes, which is where the camera anchor (the green ball with camera) will move, along with objects on the path. the actual camera is a set vector away from the anchor, but the angle and such can be slightly altered by triggers on the path. that's the gist
