Brexit Just Damages The NHS
Time to #ExitBrexit

Bam! Pats! Very good news from the financial front of the war in Europe.
My hunch would be that this will lead to some reassessments in Russia: They will start to realise that we in Europe can do this forever.
A very nice article, deftly cataloging the changing winds in the EU-UK relations.
There is a lot more positivity, which as of yet is difficult to translate into tangible benefits. Specifically noted is the increased mutual understanding of common challenges.

...Some people have a track record of being serially wrong, and Singham is one of them.
Having him in on any platform signals unseriousness.

Oi, oi, oi,
Why did the UK peers listen to a known charlatan as Singham?
There is no way that the EU will be open to mutual recognition, and that is well-know for years, even in UK.
Why have a guy which is part from the Tufton street cabal that supported the Truss budget???

From where was this clip? Was he recently in the Lords? I cannot find the Guardian article.
For sure Singham sits right besides 'economist' Minford as one of the 'charlatans and clowns' that never learn and keep peddling nonsense forever.
Orban also tried to gerrymander himself to victory, but at some point that will work against you - as he found out:

Still baffling to see someone that should be knowledgeable (David Betz - King’s College London) spout such nonsense (impeding civil war in UK).
I know its a business model, but lack of attention can/should relegate this to obscurity.
Excellent - @rafaelbehr.bsky.social puts the finger on the real problem with the Mandelson appointment:
“traits that should have disqualified him from the job were mistaken by Starmer for credentials.“

🚨🚨It is not often #EUlaw make the headlines but today's significant seminal ruling by the @eucourtofjustice.bsky.social where the Court ruled that #hungarian laws breached the fundamental values of the EU in Art 2 TEU is a major political victory for #LGBTI+ rights. 🧵 www.politico.eu/article/eu-t...
My take as well. The Mandeson affair reflects above all badly on the US.
If the prohibition was justified and and needed for conservation purposes than that is fine of course. It shows that the arbitration system works as intended.
Great report on the functioning of the TCA - the trade deal between EU and UK.
TL;DR: The EU is happy (.."stable, predictable and mutually beneficial framework").
Fun fact: the EU complaint regarding the UK sandeel fishing prohibition was resolved after UK was found to be in breach.
This whole discussion is weird:
1. Starmer is not popular for many reasons (unclear political direction, alienating his own voters, etc.)
2. He is not gone, which shows that UK is very forgiving for underperforming politicians
And its unclear what social media has to do with both 1 and 2
Interesting.
Can you post a link to the underlying report?
UK media are such garbage - exhibit 193737:
Not clear why UK wants exemptions for steel. The quota reductions are not aimed at UK specifically, and its not even clear if UK will be harmed.
For EVs, it would good for EU car industry to tighten quota and tariffs, so that UK industry moves to EU.

As often, a possible UK deal with the EU is compared to ‘other’ trade deals.
These are completely different: its like comparing crackers with seven-course fine dining:
UK has already a trade deal (‘the cracker’) with EU. We are now talking about alignment and same rules to deep-remove barriers.
If all the things one might say - loss of sovereignity, etc - Redwood chooses the one that is furthest from the truth.
The demise of the Tories is welcome, and well deserved.
How good the demise of the Tories is - another example:
This is a survey from 2025 about how people in the EU view the Euro:
TL;DR: 80+% is happy
www.ecb.europa.eu/press/econom...
Also good to note the track record of the Euro. It has by and large avoided serious problems, with Greece and to a lesser extent Spain at the low end of the achievement-scale.
But nothing like Truss happened. Mostly the Euro is a beacon of stability.
The main actions for Rejoiners should be to point out all the bad effects of Brexit. This should be done day in, day out.
In 2016, Brexiters flooded the media and talked the biggest nonsense. Many people believed them. Hard to see how it would be different in the new situation.
Focus of Rejoin should be on the emotional arguments for the EU, plus the corruption of the Brexiters
Sure it would be bad, just as it was bad that the Brexiters promised "milk-and-honey" in 2016.
its just that it seems to be the case that referenda in countries unaccustomed to it are not decided on rational terms.
Its really a bad way to decide policies.
Indeed.
It will be just as irrational, but the Rejoiners will now be able to promise 'golden mountains' while the Brexiters need to defend the status quo.
It began with coal and steel. But from the very start, our Union was always meant to be much more.
75 years ago, in Paris, with the signing of the Treaty of Paris, Europe chose a different path.
One of unity over division, of peace over war.
Is it time to talk about EU membership? The future of UK-EU relations Best for Britiain report April 2026
Best for Britain has brought out a new report on the future of Euro-British relations. This is certainly a big departure for them from their previous legitimation of the May-Johnson redlines.
It calls for an application to join Europe

True.
Its not so much that the Euro became fantastic, but that the geopolitical winds are now colder.
Indeed: the Euro may now be considered a safe haven instead of a drag.
Especially as it now becomes increasingly clear Brexiters are by-and-large more anti- than pro-UK.
