Some exciting news: I got married last week after finishing my first semester on the tenure track!
For those of you asking, I’ve decided to keep my last name for the foreseeable future, so you can still call me Dr. Hizer 😊

A few updates since I’ve last been on here:
1.) I defended my dissertation/graduated with my PhD
2.) I started a Tenure Track job/moved to Louisiana
3.) I got engaged
The past few months have been busy, but I’m happy to see so many friendly faces on this app!

I’m beyond excited to share that in August, I’ll begin a new faculty position as a tenure track Assistant Professor of English at Southeastern Louisiana University!
I’m so grateful to all my mentors and to my support system for helping me get to this point.
I just scheduled my first campus visit for a tenure track position! The job market is grueling & humbling, but moments like this are exciting ☺️
Job app #50 has been submitted! The job market is exhausting & I’ve been struggling with my health, but I’m proud of this milestone.
