Three incredible things going on at the London Food Bank. Incredible community generosity (inspiring). Incredible demand on our services (troubling). And an incredible army of volunteers (empowering). We are blessed and we appreciate it.

We're all getting soooooo tired of conflict. Let's just build - better peace, stable communities, a citizenship that excels, and a country that just works.

Our community expands in potential every time we reach out. The most meaningful community is the one where the leadership is assumed by ordinary citizens doing extraordinary things. London excels at it.

It's just the way it is. And if we don't overcome our political dysfunction, it is the way things will remain, leaving our communities weighed down by social loss instead of empowered by human potential and shared prosperity.

We are reaching a point as a people where we want more than politics. We want prosperous and interconnected communities. When that moment spills over into our collective life, we will find out way, God willing, to a better place.

Pulling together the totals from the Spring Food Drive. Regardless of what the final number is, Londoners gave so generously that it will be enough to feed 1000s of families each month and assist over 40 agencies. Thank you, London. Thank you.

We don't measure success in our food drives by totals, but by the simple question: is it enough? And you are fulfilling that right now with your donations. We're at 67,912 lbs on this last day of the drive - up 90 lbs over this point last year. Thank you for the courage to show up, London.

This will be practiced 1000s of times today as the Spring Food Drive nears its end. Right now, we're at 56,855 lbs - up 4,000 lbs from last year at this time. Generosity will infuse London today and Monday, as a community reaches out to its own vulnerable. Thank you, London.

Today's total for donations to the Spring Food Drive is 41,636 lbs. Last year at this time it was 40,023 lbs. So we've inched ahead a bit. Thank you London for always being there. Half of the food donated will come in this weekend and we thank you in advance for your help.

The food drive slumped a bit yesterday. We're at 30,881 pounds - down just 100 pounds from last year at this time. Thanks for all you're doing London. We know it's tough out there. The drive ends on Monday. Help if you can.

Finally, after 2 years of writing, I've finished "The Citizen Series" - 5 books (novels and commentary) about citizenship in Canada and in America. The books will be released shortly. I learned so much - and it gave me hope.

Pearson: Volunteers let governments off the hook The more social agencies do, the less governments are inclined to fill in the gaps in our social safety net

Excellent column this weekend by @glenpearson.bsky.social who threads the needle well by identifying both the importance of #volunteerism, but also how it serves as a bandaid to failed #onpoli & #cdnpoli, especially when it comes to #poverty & #foodinsecurity. #ldnont - lfpress.com/opinion/colu...

Thank you, everyone, for supporting the London Food Bank's Spring Food Drive. 50% of what is donated goes to other agencies as we work together to fight hunger. You're a key part of it.

The 39th annual Sprig Food Drive kicks off today. These are difficult times, making it harder for people to donate. Whatever you can do would be appreciated ... and please remember that what you have done in this last year has been enough - we met the demand. Help if you can. -and THANK YOU.

Food Debt
Food Debt YouTube video by London Food Bank

We know it's getting tough out there, but a large proportion of the Canadian population is going into debt to feed their families. For food banks, this is a challenge. For the country, it is ominous.
