Colleagues leaving, students losing out. Sure would be nice if we lived in a world where other universities could do some serious poaching, but alas it's bad all over. www.insidehighered.com/news/faculty...

Happy MarMon to all who celebrate, especially the students in the Wellesley Scream Tunnel. Remember girls, no kissing the runners!
I've been teaching Western Civ since 2004 in one form or another and I'd really like to keep doing so.

Good luck with that. HEB is our Dolly Parton.
Things down here are, to my knowledge, the most extreme example of higher education censorship currently in force. They’ve banned almost all content on sexual orientation and gender in teaching, and, in a startling low, grad student research. It’s unconscionable, offensive, and wrong.
Is this what it would have been like to have lived during the reign of Henry VIII if social media had existed?
Censorship regime at Texas Tech is too extreme for (checks notes) the American Enterprise Institute. www.insidehighered.com/opinion/colu...
Students in the Texas Tech system (64k, give or take) are now PROHIBITED from researching or writing anything "centered on" sexual orientation or gender identity as part of an undergrad honors or graduate thesis. Not faculty, mind you. Students.
In a blatant 1st Amendment violation, students in the Texas Tech University system are completely banned from researching or writing anything related to sexual orientation or gender identity as part of their thesis.

Exactly. I don't get it.
Apparently there are 900 girls signed up to go to Camp Mystic this summer. I just don't understand this.
Boy do I not care about Lena Dunham.
Please share.

no free speech till you've finished your Viewpoint Diversity. in fact not even then
Historian friends, does anyone have a suggestion for a venue that publishes undergraduate history papers? Thanks! 🗃️
Just confirming that Made by History will now be back up and running in the next few weeks with a new home and new partners at the Philadelphia Inquirer. Exciting! So, if you have pitches, now's the time to start sending them to madebyhistory@inquirer.com 🗃️ #MadebyHistory #HistoryMatters
I am broken-hearted at the terrible news that my alma mater, @hampshirecollege.bsky.social, after 56 yrs, is closing. Its death is a victory for conformism, for corporatism, for higher education's dull love of hierarchy & status. It's a grievous defeat for imagination & experimentation.
I'm liking these resignations.
History professor: let me tell you about the Investiture Controversy of the 11th century.
NYT: nah
A Texas Tech University law student is suing university leaders and faculty, arguing they violated her free speech rights by disciplining her over comments about the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Woohoo, here's my essay with my fav co-author on 30,000 fellowship wins across the Guggenheim, Stanford CASBS, NAEd, National Humanities Center, RSF visiting scholar, and Harvard Radcliffe.
Spoiler: it's the people working at prestigious universities

Oh yes! AAUP leadership on campus has been great.
Hahaha not West Texas.
