Idk a lot, but does the spell itself resolve at the “draw 2 cards” instead of at “discard a card”, because the action cant be completed?
If the card had an additional effect on it that also needed to resolve like “then gain 1 life”, would it affect the outcome?

I think there’s a point around the intermediate level in xrd where you start doing the batman prep work for matchups and players, or you condemn yourself to years of being a wild-child until you get the same knowledge through endlessly grinding.
