Robert Gemmell Hutchinson's work is of a young woman about to play golf, checking a barometer, the forecast hopeful. Her clothing follows 1920's golfing fashion trends, an oversized flat cap and matching two-piece dress.
Egret with a smallish flat fish in it's beak.
Trying to swallow the flat fish. Neck distended.
Back out for a dunk in the water (to lube it up?)
Lunchtime walk. Egret trying to get a flat fish down. There e were lots of partial swallows, dunking it in water, trying again. I left because we were both embarrassed.

Poem - 'An introduction to poetry' by Billy Collins
My high school experience was very much the last 2 stanzas of this Ars Poetica
There's a place for the dissection of a poem to understand craft, particularly as a poet
But before you want to write you need to love poems, to water ski across their surface

Magyar Péter (Ne féljetek) * ... @magyarpeterMP Until 31 May, the Orbán puppets may voluntarily step down from their positions. This applies to the President of Hungary, the President of the Curia, the President of the National Office for the Judiciary, the President of the Constitutional Court, and the Prosecutor General. On 12 April, the Hungarian people voted for a complete political transformation. If these officials do not step down voluntarily by 31 May, then - on the basis of the mandate received from millions of Hungarians — we will remove them from office.

Really welcome package of clean energy measures from Ed Miliband coming today. Should make a meaningful difference to energy bills relatively quickly.

Thank you for your attention to this batter.
Thank you! I’m so glad to know that. I did a crossword once that was based on a lot of them. I wonder how many are still in common usage.
Heard this story before but I’d forgotten how truly bizarre it is.

'La Varenne, banks of the Marne, fishermen in boats.' (1913) Albert Marquet's serial exploration of views (he painted the Marne numerous times) echoed the Impressionists' interest in capturing the river under a variety of conditions.
Early in his career, Charles Ginner preferred to paint interiors and street scenes, but after WW1 turned his attention to meticulous study of landscape. Here he paints Hampstead Heath in London in the spring of 1932.
Long thread incoming on the Mandelson/ Ollie Robbins’ sacking. Please be patient. I think context and the timetable really matters and is being overlooked
