Hellmuth once broke into a concert venue as a young teen, to see his buddy‘s fave band, but got caught by security and brought home by the cops (10/10 would do it again, that band became his fave too through that).

Imagine not having to rely on ambient sound compilations anymore when writing a scene for a specific location cause the rl sounds around you are exactly what you need~

I originally based the Ginreapers neighborhood on my grandmother’s one, for nostalgia’s sake and to make it quicker to get refs and have a detailled “mental image” of the place. And hearing the trains all night always was a vibe, so I’m happy to get to hear them again all the time.

(As in, their supermarket chain is heavily INSPIRED by the rl one, not gonna get in copyright trouble with these guys)

I love when I accidentally foreshadow stuff with my comics that later happens in my own life.

Right across the street from the Ginreapers house is a supermarket and behind that the traintracks. Guess what’s in about the same proximity from my current place. Even the supermarket chain is the same.

And as I mentioned in another post, I love that their names feature spooky themes like they‘re characters made for an old kinder surprise Halloween drop - Man (as in short for mankind), Hell, Mort (death) and Gore. They‘re so made for each other ✨

On a sidenote, their names‘ meaning match them so well!

Manfred - man + peace (that man has never known peace like ever)

Hellmuth - healthy mind (he is in fact *not* mentally well)

Morten - the god mars (Manf would love to shoot him to mars)

Grigo - watchful/alert (he‘s their babysitter)

As mentioned, I have a hard time letting scriptnames go, but also didn’t want to make it his surname (would‘ve been funny for Hellmuth to just…guess it right). Wanted to have a name at least beginning with „G“, preferably even „Gr“ and liked „Grigore“ best.

As for Grigo: He didn’t yet have a name in the first scene I scribbled down with him. Which he also didn’t need cause it was the one where Hellmuth and Manf really meet him for the first time and don’t know it either. Hellmuth calls him “Großer”(=big boy) there, so that became his scriptname.

Idk what made me choose his first name also beginning with “Mo-“. Maybe I thought a character with “Mort” (death) in his name would also fit the metal band vibe and that’s what made me choose “Morten” for him.

Mo’s name was kinda spontaneous too I think. Had this “someone called Mo the Hoe by his friends” thing in my head when creating the Ginreapers further. Originally wanted “Mo” to be the shortform of just his surname.
