Overall I couldn’t recommend this game enough (though probably choose the PS5 or Steam version cause censorship :p) it is so clever and fun while still being a great story that keeps you engaged and really puts you in mind of these characters and care about the outcome of the story.
In general I think my favorite characters were Prism and Robert himself they were just so funny and smart with everything they said I just was so glad they got so many great lines but also I could say that for the entire cast it was just so amazing to genuinely connect and enjoy the whole cast
(Definitely think having 0 queer options for Robert after it was teased by one of the directors was a gross tactic to drum up more sales and attention when they just needed to be honest about what it was. I don’t mind a completely straight character but don’t try and make it seem like he wasn’t)
The big choices I made involved romancing Blonde Blazer and I kept Coup and ditched Sonar. I generally tried to play Robert as I saw him, a down and out superhero with a hard snarky edge but at the end of the day is on the side of good and pushes his team to be better even if they’re assholes…
These choice based games where they intentionally make the choices something you would never actually do or the action just doesn’t match what the description of the choice is. Dispatch does this rarely and usually it’s in the realm of understanding or fits the character and I could’ve seen it comin
I wish there was an endless mode to just play a ton and get to hear all the interactions I missed because I was so focused on the sorting through the work. The choices in the cutscenes were great too and it actually matched what I picked for the most part. That’s usually an issue I run into with…
Which brings me into the gameplay. Holy hell it was addicting and posed a good amount of challenges that put my resource management skills to the test in the best way. I felt similarly to the characters when there was less people on the squad or just too many requests to handle at once….
Put down I had to find out what happened next and it actually surprised me with some of the twists. The character writing is fabulous and the performances are out of this world. Getting so much character and world building during the chaotic shifts is just a perfect system where I was never bored.
I think the pattern Adhoc is creating of them hiding the truth to get people to buy their game is going to bite them in the ass if they don’t nip it in the bud for their next game.
Anyways onto the actual game. I think it was amazing and so much fun. Genuinely a fantastic story that I couldn’t…
Dispatch:
I was waiting until it came to Switch 2 for whatever reason. To get it out of the way I was super disappointed in the censorship of the game on the Switch, but it was made a lot worse by the devs response. Like it’s not hard to just be honest about not wanting to make a separate version.
I was one step from doing this lmao
really happy with my wuyang sticker 🌊✨
Never going to enjoy ow rank resets it always places me super low and then I tear through ranks and get stuck in Diamond 3 because I get paired with teammates who have never played before apparently and throwers. Like I was Masters 2 for so long why do I have to prove it every 3 months
That’s kinda how I felt too, I played on give me god of war and the bosses felt like die 3 times and figure out how to avoid a couple of moves then it was a simple cycle of roll, attack, attack, roll until their hp was gone. I also liked the runic build I did and that became broken very quickly
Both are great games would love to hear what you think of them when you’re done
Hard isn’t too bad if you don’t mind doing some long fights like this lol but I wouldn’t recommend it for Ragnorok at all. The higher difficulties in that game, in my opinion, are not made well
Sea of Stars:
What a great game so much fun in a nice and simple way. The dlc saves the “main characters” definitely and I played after some big updates so I experienced a very different product than those who played it on release. I think the writing could have used some work in act 3 for sure.
Overall great addition to the game that really supplemented the story and sets up for whatever cool meta things the devs have going on with their games. (I didn’t understand all of it but that means I might have to play the messanger next lol)
The music and look of everything is just as amazing as the base game and in some places even better. All of the new characters were so awesome. Special shoutouts to the Narcis King he was hot as hell and it made me wish we could put his outfit on Zale (bad boys 🥵)
The new classes and character was amazing for the combat and genuinely the fights were all challenging and super fun also the Puppeteer fight was so iconic and made me use every aspect of the combat system and was gorgeous and so perfectly stylized I can’t praise it enough
Personally I liked Zale’s area and arc more than Valere’s but I think the way they wove together was interesting and think carrying some of that into the final area was what would push the story to the next level but I still loved what we had
It felt like, okay we’re gonna make up super fast and we’re all good now big top and don’t think about what we talked about except a quick bit during the boss fight.
I like that moment during the boss fight but I wish we spent more time in the conflict of it all to get more growth and perspective
I loved how they explore Zale and Valere in this story and they have some good moments and I felt it was well thought out and really made it worthwhile. I will say I think we could’ve done with having more time before we get a resolution between the solstice warriors. It felt like…
DLC THROES OF THE WATCHMAKER:
Fantastic dlc that doesn’t take up a ton of time in a good way and expands on a lot of things from the main game. Expanded the characters that needed it the most and the combat gets really difficult
Only thing I knock it on is that the true ending is lackluster like it wasn’t the most work to reach it but it felt as if we were building to something cool or get more lore or anything but it’s basically the regular ending with very slightly changed circumstances.
The boss fights were great and most of them felt super fitting for the story and made me excited each time I faced one. It left me feeling satisfied and ready for more if they make a sequel just like Sea of Stars
Battle system was fun, lock system was so cool and the relatively low number system made it fun to manage and keep track of what I needed to use and still make me feel powerful and like I was growing. Combos are so fun and I genuinely was excited to see each new one.
The music was absolutely perfect such a great ost that makes me want to play through again just to experience the music. The artstyle is some of the best pixel art I have ever seen and it does hd 2d in a perfect way this is the standard I’ve been wanting. Please bring back pixel art games like this
