angie craig thanks you for this framing because this is exactly the conversation she wants ahead of the DFL convention in rochester rather than having to reckon with her vote for the laken riley act and how minnesotans angry with the ICE occupation oppose her because of that

FBI Director Kash Patel sues The Atlantic claiming false reporting about drinking, absences FBI Director Kash Patel filed a defamation lawsuit against The Atlantic and its reporter Sarah Fitzpatrick following the publication of an article on Friday alleging the director had a drinking probl...

If I represented the Atlantic, I’d lock in the earliest deposition date on the calendar. Call Patel’s bluff. He has zero interest in putting any of this under oath.

I'm no consultant, but I think maybe Tim Walz raising money for his own PAC is not a great idea when every D in the state is running against the GOP theory that "Tim Walz let fraudsters steal your money." I know that's a false claim, but it is the one they're pushing so maybe sit this one out Walz?

I guess my opinion could be swayed by some facts I'm not thinking of, but I just don't think any governmental dollars should be given to, and no governmental programs should be run by, religious organizations. I don't have a problem with churches or religious orgs, but I don't want them in govt.

Absolutely agree. It was so puzzling. Like, what is the goal here?

Yeah it was weird. And maybe she changed her mind after the voting results, but that was her answer at Q and A which surprised a lot of folks I think.

Molly Chase said she wouldn’t abide the endorsement but lost on the first ballot. I hope she decides against that. We know the big money PACs are going to hate seeing the organization of the folks endorsed today and pull something, we’ll all need to work against that.

This person seems nice but I haven’t heard any reason why one should vote for her over Becca for District 5 MPS School Board.

Beyond the fact that it is OUTRAGEOUS that Julie Le is running as an ICE attorney for the MN-05 seat and thinking she can challenge Ilhan, her speech at the City Convention sucked. She didn't respect the delegates here enough to put any time or thought into it. GTFO Julie.

Not an overreaction at all. It feels completely targeted at getting no one but lobbyists to weigh in on anything. It’s 2026, why in the hell are we wasting all that time, gas, paper, ink, water, etc etc!

Now that we have statewide earned sick and safe time the Lowry was really telling on itself citing ‘city specific policies’ that they claim are why they’re closing. You don’t want to pay your employees Mpls minimum wage? You don’t like having to write down what wage you’re paying folks? Gross.

Oh see now the nuns and priests who taught me K-12 in Catholic school were VERY clear that killing and wars were matters of morality.

She calls it a "council meltdown" for them to reject a nominee for cause. Budget overruns, department mismanagement, trying to give a contract to a guy who livestreams violent threats against the council.

Commish Cathy with a huge round of boos from the Lynx fans at this draft party. Even on a screen Lynx fans need to let her know - we’re Team Phee.

The woman is being held in El Paso, not here. Craig needs to be working with TX reps if she's really serious about getting anything done here.

Well, this annoyed me enough that I joined @taylordahlin.com and @wedge.live Patreons today because they do too much actual journalism on the topics the Reformer also covers for me not to be supporting their work. If the Walter fluff piece and this piece irked you too, join me in supporting them.

Same. I WROTE for them a time or two when they first started out, but both of these things together today are just a bit too much.

It's ASTOUNDING that this article never mentions that. She also voted for a resolution praising ICE last June when they were already brutalizing people in LA. And you'd never know it by this reporting.

U.S. Rep. Angie Craig calls for release of woman in ICE detention with large ovarian cyst • Minnesota Reformer U.S. Rep. So far today the Reformer has put up an article sane-washing Walter Hudson and doing zero investigation into what looks like an unauthorized non-profit he told them about in October and printing this about Craig and not mentioning her previous votes for it. WTF?

It's a life or death situation that she voted to allow under the Laken Riley Act and done by an organization she voted to praise in a resolution as recently as this summer. Let's tell the entire truth here.

who helped create the life-or death situation, Angie!!

I'd like to know if the Reformer will be looking into this "non-profit" Walter claims he's "starting" which has a donate button on its site but isn't registered at the MN SOS, and which also has a name close to the name of a national org that Walter used to run an affiliate chapter of in MN.

Also the formation documents of the inactive org say they are the Frederick Douglass Foundation of Minnesota, part of the larger FDF National org, but they've been operating under the name Frederick Douglass Project, which isn't registered anywhere.

Found it. It’s inactive. Meaning it can’t operate right now. Probably shouldn’t have a ‘donate’ button on its website.

Did anyone at the Reformer look into whether his non-profit is actually registered in Minnesota? I can’t seem to find it at the SOS and this feels like a very low level bit of research.

Indignant Mayor Frey says today has nothing to do with Barnette's job performance. Which I interpret to mean massive budget overruns are not a thing you're allowed to hold against the city's highest paid employee.

Not track budgets apparently!

All else aside, if you allow the department you oversee to spend $20 MILLION taxpayer dollars over its budget, I think you should lose your job. I think it's weird there are 6 Minneapolis City Council members who don't agree with that.

As with Susan Crawford's win last year, tonight's SCOWIS result won't get an iota of the What Mamdani Means For 🇺🇸 Politics coverage from coastal elites. But it's likely a far better bellwether of how things are shifting in 2026. This is a landslide by WI standards.

This message is better than that of 99.9% of our current federal elected. This is the energy we need from our senators in a time like this.
