Correct! Actual factual farmers that want to keep their land should be actively supported and our policies need to allow that, and keep weeding out the fake ones, which they are doing. The actual farmers want the fakes out too

You can’t say you’re for the environment only in certain areas and force people in the DA to put up with more noise and traffic!!! FFS! 😤😤😤
It really irritates me. How I’m coming around to it is, fine, if we want a robust rural area, then let’s make sure we’re actually making environmental decisions, and making sure that we are allowing the farmers to actually make money on their land and stop micromanaging everything!
I mean tbf we haven’t really talked about it haha
🫠🫠🫠 I would have voted no on the Ivy ones
Were all three exits lumped together?
It was so much work 😅 but county staff really made the process so good. It was so well-organized, they always had answers, were responsive, and I’m so grateful for the orientations before it got started. Really, really impressed with all the employees who’ve chosen to serve Albemarle County.

Hey hey, look who made it through her first budget season!
There’s no easy land left! 🙃. That was the larger point - if we expanded the development area, they would build and help bring down $$
Ugggggh! I literally have quoted the traffic counts to support housing! They are not congested. 😵💫 (I am in favor of the Barracks one tho 💀💀💀)
Housing policy 🤝 climate policy
Research from earlier this year shows that legalizing ADUs, allowing TOD, and ending parking mandates create greener cities & towns.
I can overhear two supervisors zooming into the MPO meeting and people need to be posting more about how the vote discussion is going!

🙄 the only pictures I took of my panel, but what a great, wide-ranging conversation about housing supply and development in the area!
Slide that says why isn’t housing affordable with statistics
Slide that says “why isn’t housing affordable”
Hmmmm. I wonder what their answers are going to be 🤔
Last week I happened to have conversations with 3 different developers and they all said they would love to build so many houses that it drives prices into the ground
Some of the things I’m hoping to learn/talk more about this year is how we use our AHIF funds and speed up housing, and these are some great ideas.
Slide showing Lunch & Learn: Partnerships for Affordable Housing
slide describing The Community Land Trust Model
Having a great housing conversation with nonprofits, realtors, and developers - things I am hearing that the county can do is to create a list of pre-qualified applicants for affordable housing and provide down payment assistance.

Map saying “despite Charlottesville’s prosperity upward mobility lags many other Virginia metros”
Graph that says “As communities grow wealthier, they often make less room for middle-class life”

I know this presentation from Hamilton Lombard is online somewhere, and probably in my inbox tbh, but here I am taking pictures anyway of a panel discussion at TomTom.
This has absolutely got to change!
It’s going to be great, I only need one talking point 🤣

Looking forward to this round table discussion later today about housing in the area!

I think it is done. My gosh. I remember campaigning in 2017 and a democratic representative in Congress felt so far off. So proud of Virginia. So, so proud. Never cowed, never meek, firm, fair and focused on democracy!
Look at all of those counties that contain mid-sized college towns whose universities (mostly flagships / other publics) dominate regional economies

Voter machine count 254
Fight Back, Vote Yes! And holy cow, in the JJ district there’s already been 254 voters and it’s not even 10am 👀. I’ve never seen the number that high this early. 🤞🏻
Hey, Cville-area peeps who want to chat about more affordable housing, mobility, or climate issues with a Albemarle County focus, join us for a drop-in social at the Bar Botanical rooftop bar in Crozet — Thursday April 23 5-7 PM
Mamdani hasn't had time to really think about all that space he now has, because he spends most of his time at City Hall and around New York City. He tries to keep a semblance of his old life by getting around the city on foot, by bike or train. "If you spend every single day driving around in a tinted window security detail, you will have a very specific view of the city," he said. "You actually meet other New Yorkers and you break out of the bubble that so many have come to expect of politics, where politicians only seem to be spending time with other politicians or the people who donated to make them politicians."
I'd say that this applies to anyone traveling in a car in any city. Being in a car versus walking, riding, or taking transit fundamentally changes how you view a place and your relationship to it. I wish more leaders set this kind of example.

I am frustrated but also highly motivated, and am looking forward to the end of this process so we can get to work on addressing some of these substantial issues.
