This is so valid. I love a lot of things about Pittsburgh, but the fact that we have to be out here town crier style like “THERE IS SUN TODAY I REPEAT THERE IS SUN” to everyone we know so we don’t miss it is not one of those things 😂 it’s a very “sliver of sun followed by 3 weeks gloom” pattern

What's your fav thing in the category of "straight guy wrote these characters thinking they were the straightest/manliest of men, but it came out loaded with homoerotic subtext?" Can be book, film, TV, anything.
I guess… still feels super thin to me in the same way basically every part of s2 did. “One narrative cue per character and then we drop the ball for 10 episodes before we pick it up again” felt like the name of the game this season.
You know what else might have influenced me here is watching 15 seasons of The Suicidal Brothers in Supernatural lmao Dean was doing… much worse things every season, my gauge might need to be recalibrated
So yeah, when I saw helmetless Robby in ep 1, I did not uh… register it the way it seems the show was intending lol it is so much less wild than what I see on a daily basis here
Like… the last time I was coming back from the North Side and hit that four lane jam where you have to choose Monroeville/Oakland or Downtown? A guy turned his car PERPENDICULAR to traffic like it was no big thing and then crossed three lanes at once. Ppl drive like they have a death wish here.
Pittsburgh mutuals who watch The Pitt: did you register Robby riding across the bridge without a helmet as suicidal tendencies or were you like “yep regular Pittsburgh driving.” Because I was the latter and I’m noticing maybe there’s an opinion divide here between local viewers and others lol.
Like... s1 Robby who was losing it in the family room felt way clearer as far as broadcasting a dark depression. This season has been so muddled for his arc to me idk.
She did, and that's kind of one of my problems with this season: they transitioned from light-hearted banter about his sabbatical as though it was an extended vacation that might turn into retirement to being like HE WANTS TO DIE, OBVI.
This made me realize that I totally forgot about the lady they introduced early this season who is banging Robby lol. I still like this season, but it has felt so much more disjointed and jam packed than s1, there are so many details that whiz by.
I feel like she’s part of the reason most reality tv doesn’t do it for me. Nobody is as good to watch as her lol it all pales in comparison
I dig black beans a lot too so this is right up my alley.
Alright, what's everyone's favorite cheap tasty meals that make a fair amount of food? Everything is a trillion dollars rn and I think we could all use a thread of recs.
suggestion: any time someone messages or emails you with one of these literary book club spams, before you block your contact, write back & say you are a practicing witch & if they ever try this again on anyone, you are sending a demon after them.
I paid $5 for a cold brew and it takes like liquified plastic what is this fucking horror omg
The solstice isn't how you decide when it's summer, this is how you decide.
It's summer because someone in the neighborhood is blasting Brandy - "I Wanna Be Down"
A little regret but also not because this used to *never* be possible for me. Ever since ketamine treatments, I can actually nap later in the day when I didn't get enough sleep overnight, it's crazy.
Meant to experience the outdoors today but instead took a three hour nap.
Sorry, I just didn't see pronouns so grabbing the name felt like a better bet!
me, jokingly: and obviously Dave Bautista should play Ganondorf in the Zelda movie
me, after five seconds of thought: wait, fuck
Right 😭 I keep seeing people who seem to be observing fandom for the first time deciding the worst behavior within it is the totality of it too, it's really annoying. Like, presumably they wouldn't assume the worst people with any other hobby means the entire thing is rotten and yet!
Thank you!
I was having a vent about recent articles written about fandom by people with both no experience in it/a clear disdain for it (the Heated Rivalry ones, recent "look at how weird and gross it is that ppl ship characters from The Pitt" discourse, etc.) so Rebecca just rec'd your work!
I haven't! Feel free to link some 👀
good time to repost this. gonna sentence everyone without fandom experience who makes snap judgments about fandom to read Gnaw and then get back to me
Fandom Library of Alexandria moment for sure oof
And I say that as someone who personally doesn't ship anyone in this show because, every time I think of them, I think "goddamn, didn't they just do surgery on a collapsed lung?" lol. Like I actually *do* need a degree of horniness in the material to get me there, but doesn't mean everyone does.
The argument of "you're watching the show WRONG if you're shipping anyone" is as old as fandom itself, and it's boring af. People writing gay sex on websites you don't frequent isn't the death of art, y'all. You don't have to understand it. In fact, you should be leaving it alone if you don't.
a post reading "oh man, the shipping is a whole other thing that I just cannot wrap my head around. This is not that kind of show! Yeah, Robby's a messy fuck boi (info that's mostly left in the background) and Javadi had an adorable crush, but otherwise??????"
*sigh* This is what I mean... "those FREAKS shipping ppl!" If there are hot characters that viewers have emotional attachment to, they will ship them. The source material doesn't need to be romantic in nature to cause this. Again, anyone who has actually been in fandom wouldn't find this odd.
