Nebula short story #1: "Because I Held His Name Like a Key" by @aimeeogdenwrites.com.
A story about Alan Turing, about brilliance & curiosity, about love that we can't (or won't) quite recognize and about the gaps that can't quite be bridged. Beautiful & heartbreaking.
I really enjoyed this story.
Really excited to be joining this virtual spec poetry open mic session!
Come read some of your poems or listen to me read some of mine ☕️ 📖
Here's the text from my latest horror story "Classifieds," which was just published by Nerd Horror Stories in audio format on YouTube. Much love!

I may be new here. But this right here is worth your time and money.
Order a copy please
Cover for RECKONING: IT WAS PARADISE, featuring an illustration by Moníca Robles Corzo of a monstrous face with multiple sets of curving horns, exposed brain matter, serpents encircling and gorging the eyes, two sets of fanged mouths, and a warhead emerging in place of a tongue.
IT WAS PARADISE, our long-awaited special issue on war and conflict in environmental justice, is out today in ebook form, and the print edition is up for preorder! Edited by @soniasulaiman.bsky.social and with (terrifying) war monster art by @monarobot.bsky.social! reckoning.press/it-was-parad...
This war-themed issue of Reckoning, IT WAS PARADISE, was a long time in the making, but sadly evergreen in its relevance.
I'm honored have a science fiction story here that keeps the focus on the human beings, struggling to survive a war machine that seems to have no face, ideology, or objectives.
My science fiction story is about a father trying to give his young daughter her heart's desire, in a landscape of desperation and mechanized horrors. "In the Foothills" will be free to read on April 20th, and the entire IT WAS PARADISE ebook is available now!

"Life According to Tabeeb", set in my native Cairo, first appeared in Learning to be Human from @flametree.bsky.social.
Release Day! The long-awaited "It was Paradise" from @reckoningmag.bsky.social is out today. I'm humbled "Life According to Tabeeb" is included in the stellar TOC.
Come for the robots, stay for an impoverished Cairo community finally having enough.

A week to go on those Hugo noms. If you’re reading for this award, I’d be honored if you’d consider this short story.
Hugo nominations close on March 28th!
Would love if you considered my @uncannymagazine.bsky.social short story “Barbershops of the Floating City“! It was tied for 1st in the Uncanny Reader Poll, and is a story very close to my heart.

ONE WEEK for Hugo noms! I'd love if anyone could consider my novella, Disgraced Return of the Kap's Needle! Or any of my work, really. Thank you! ❤️
I remain incredibly proud of my work here! With a week left in the Hugo nom period, I'd be honored if you'd consider this work about connection, power, identity, and the erosion of all those things: "Because I Held His Name Like a Key".
It's World Poetry Day so I thought I'd share the opening poem from my upcoming horror poetry collection THE BUILD-A-MONSTER WORKSHOP, out May 7th from @rdspress.bsky.social much love!!

I‘m so so proud of my story in SH last year (and so so thrilled with its gorgeous artwork by Catarina João); please consider it & all the wonderful stories / poems / editorial work featured in SH last year, esp. this wonderful Nebula Finalist poem by my brilliant friend @jenniferhudak.bsky.social:

I have a new weird flash story out today about spinal taps! 💉
Absolutely lost my mind to see my story featured on the top page of @electricliterature.com. Dream come true 😭
Thank you so much @emmiechristie33.bsky.social for the wonderful, week-long journey. I'll never forget it.
And I should have mentioned that 'Son of the Sea' is a prequel to 'In the Teeth of the Gale'!
Now, I'll look forward to all the other stories you'll read and share with the rest of us 🧡
And lastly, my overall Spotlight review! I had such a lovely time getting to know you through your work, Ramez!!

Without the brutal honesty of the many women in my life, this story wouldn't be possible. I owe them , in more ways than one. I'm also grateful to @gavagai.com for giving it an awesome home, and to @emmiechristie33.bsky.social for another nuanced take. Thank you.
So, technically this was my second sale, but first (fiction) publication. It's not often I get to publish stories with the entire species for protagonist, and rather like the view from the top 😇
As to the title, I have an engineer's rigorous mathematical grounding to blame!
I'm so very grateful you took the time to read all those stories, and for your insightful take on each one of them 🙏
Now onto the next author, can't wait to read the stories, and your reviews, now that it's a daily ritual 😅
