Shovelling and thinking to myself, “ahhh, so much quieter with the snow”- we live in a very car centric area in Woodlawn. Immediately, a driver lays on his horn for a solid 30 seconds in a clearly residential area. My sick wife is sleeping to boot. Why are drivers the way they are?!?

N.S. Premier defends budget cuts amid protests at Province House The province cut $104 million in spending across departments including grants to community agencies and programming.

Tim Houston suggests that the NDP organized yesterday’s “save the arts” rally outside Province House.

How out of touch with reality do you have do be to think the arts and cultural community can’t organize a protest?

Tim Houston came to an arts event a few years ago. He told us "I love art! I love artists! I tell my friends the best way to get rich is to buy houses where artists live!"
He laughed. The room was silent. Angry.
He looked around, his smile fading.
So he said it a second time and walked out laughing.

Despite what N.S. environment minister says, Canada–Nova Scotia Nature Agreement does have timelines and unspent funding will be returned to Ottawa - Halifax Examiner Environment and Climate Change Canada spokesperson confirmed that the Canada–Nova Scotia Nature agreement itself will be in effect until March 2030, but current funding expires at the end of March 202...

“(Tim) Halman appears to be deflecting, trying to find some way to blame Ottawa for funding a nature agreement designed to help the province protect its land and waters, and misleading the legislature by saying there are no timelines,” reports @joanbaxter.bsky.social

When you really dig down into it the two (not monied interest) sides of this debate are:

I don't understand my and/or the city's budget, and demand lower taxes.

Vs.

I do understand my and/or the city's budget and demand better services and understand I have to pay for it.

And, if we stop progress/reduce safety standards, this number will increase. More people are choosing biking as their transportation (despite attempts by the city to dissuade them) due to its affordability, benefits, and relative ease compared to car congestion.

really looking forward to throwing this back at Andy any time we talk about the cost of bike lanes

I’ll tell you what the costs are: more congestion, less affordability, and more serious injuries for cyclists and greater risk for fatalities.

also, Tony, you either or for or against active transportation and safety for vulnerable road users. Don’t continue telling me you are for it and then vote in favour of motions like Purdys to look at costs of delaying bike lanes.

This is just so ridiculous, but also, it’s likely this person feels confident in saying such a thing to someone biking because of the vitriol council/the mayor has riled up. I don’t know if you would consider emailing this to them Chris but it could be powerful, especially because you just spoke

Instead of writing fearmongering posts for facebook, maybe Austerity Andy could get his multiple comms staff to create materials that actually explain how stuff works.
Or, save some money and just repost Kevin’s work.
