Dunked on this yesterday but in reality the first order of business needs to be punishment. I'm not kidding. We can't start fixing anything until we punish, and punish hard, the people who put us here. That needs to be done to send a message. And if we don't punish, nothing else will matter.

Image of a Virginia Democrats' proposed congressional map that is drawn to elect a ten-to-one Democratic majority and flip four Republican seats in 2026. The district lines are displayed over top of a basemap with major roads and cities labeled. The districts are colored by the 2024 presidential winner's margin of victory, with Kamala Harris districts in blue and Donald Trump districts in red. Darker shades represent larger margins of victory. An embedded chart shows the 2024 presidential election results and the adult population racial demographics in each district. Kamala Harris won 10 of the 11 districts, while Black voters would retain their ability to elect their preferred candidates in Districts 3 and 4, which remain safely Democratic.
Virginia votes TODAY on a referendum that would enable Democrats to redraw the congressional map for 2026 in response to new Republican gerrymanders in other states.
The map targets 4 of 5 Republicans & aims to elect a 10-1 Dem majority.

I had the opportunity to confront Pete Hegseth's bigoted spiritual mentor, Pastor Doug Wilson, and call him out on his history of hate, his misreading of the Bible, his hijacking of Jesus, and his cosplay Crusading.
It was worth it.
It was indeed!
Once had some cheeky fun with a capsule review where I danced around what this magnificent movie is.
This piece is incredibly important. Read the whole thing.

Coachella is trying to wipe all of the footage of The Strokes protest set so I’m gonna post it here. The last images on the screen made me cry.
In fact, one subplot of this particular episode involves a guy who has to go to a different hospital because his insurance company arbitrarily won't cover emergency treatment at the one he's at. Presented by United!
Pretty rich of United Healthcare to run an advertisement before THE PITT, a show partially about the dystopian hell of dealing with insurance companies.
This is the correct relationship for a writer to have with her editor
You know what else would win a half-marathon?
A car.
Or even a person on a bicycle.
A machine exceeding the capability of an unassisted human is not news just because it has leg-like appendages.

Haha I kept thinking during this movie "Scout is gonna dig this."
Thanks for the kind words!
Been ages since I watched all of them together, and I might be mentally simplifying the course of these real lives, but my memory is that the films almost function as a depiction of how life goes when (to show my American roots) you're born on third base vs. not.
Whoa!
I can't get into Hopecore. Too much clean singing! Just a total commercial bastardization of Midwest Nicecore.
With a final tally of 213-214, the war powers resolution to disengage US forces from the war on Iran failed by a single vote.
Representative Jared Golden of Maine was the sole Democratic lawmaker to vote against the measure. Had he voted for it, it would have passed, handing Trump an historic loss.
Their involvement should haunt every moment the rest of their lives. They were careless people - they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made.

Done •1k • Opinion The Editorial Board America's income tax is progressive The rich already pay more than their fair share.
Opinion The Editorial Board Don't blame companies with no tax liability for following the law They're just using the tools Congress gave
If you didn’t think it was possible after yesterday’s house editorial (left) for Washpost Opinion to more obsequiously parrot their owner’s tax agenda, well, you probably haven’t seen today’s piece (right)
Happy Tax Day, New York. We’re taxing the rich.
Russ Vought specifically calls out USAID as something he's proud of (illegally) dismantling. The cut foreign aid has likely already killed hundreds of thousands of people and will eventually kill millions.
