i miss good solid quality microscopes
that said, a lot of 'toy' microscopes can be quite good now and are cheap enough to not worry about the cost when you open it up and modify it with lens swapping or different positioning to greatly increase magnification factor
some even have webcams built in!

while on the topic, when i first started dilating they wanted me to start with orange but that was intimidating so started on green.
in early recovery when i was still swollen i would engulf green up to the thumb groove. after swelling was gone, still went 5 dots.
need to recover 2-3 dots worth.

i've been somewhat slacking on dilation for a while cause well *gestures at everything going on* but this should be the start of getting back lost capacity and then some

so for some of us downstairs post-op folks, a bit of an internal tight ring can form (sometimes normal tissue, sometimes scar tissue, both are a thing) over time that can prevent insertion of larger diameter things, which can make dilating hard (or even impossible for some folks)
