The closest I’ve come to that kind of transformation is in math instruction where some concepts, especially geometry, are made more accessible when objects can be moved and manipulated on a screen.

Really! Incredible! My kids go there now. (I teach at another neighborhood school but dream of working there). It remains a great progressive program, and maybe the only truly diverse progressive school in the city.

Even the best presidential campaign ground game only happens once every four years. It’s the every day, slow moving ground work in between those contests that won the day in the end.
It’s so real. In this case, the unglamorous work is the effective work.
When politics on a large scale feels like it’s going impossibly far in the wrong direction, we look local. Cement the local organizations that we know can make a difference.
If the foundation is strong, the rest will follow.

I TEACH cursive to my 4th graders in New York City. They enjoy it and can definitely do it. I learned a little as a child but never really used it until I started teaching.
Learning to write is about more than memorizing the dictionary.
