Just turned 40 and wondering if I need to do this on my next job search. Most people clock me as closer to 30 based on appearance sooooo

It's wild age discrimination starts so early in our current culture. Nobody stays w/the same co. for decades anymore so why should it matter if someone has decades left of working life or not? If they're good enough you'd want to keep them around that long they'll be gone in 2-5 years anyway π€¨
Screenshot of tweet from Know Your Memes, dated March 19, 2024: On this day five years ago, Patricia Lockwood (@TriciaLockwood) posted the following tweet about her cat Miette. further screenshot of tweet from Patricia Lockwood, dated March 19, 2019: me, lightly touching miette with the side of my foot: miette move out of the way please so I don't trip on you miette, her eyes enormous: you KICK miette? you kick her body like the football? oh! oh! jail for mother! jail for mother for One Thousand Years!!!!
you repost miette? you repost miette like the meme? Joy! Joy for internet for FIVE YEARS!
Ugh feel that. After the last round of job searching when I hadn't updated my resume for like 5 years I started a gdoc & I try (mostly unsuccessfully) to remember to jot down when I do something possibly useful bc later on it's like I am great at my job but can I think of even one concrete thing??
Right?? I would like an option C where I do nothing and the pain just magically vanishes π
this is only a test of the emergency broadcast centerβs alert system
were this a real emergency people would care
they would stop it
or at least try to
right?

This is such a consistent phenomenon with anybody I know who's had PT including me lol. idk why "do these simple exercises that take little time and significantly reduce your pain" is such a hard ask but jfc it really is.
If you're going to call someone "evil" over anything - no, literally a n y t h i n g - involving fictional fanfiction that is not real and that nobody gets paid for doing imma need you to take several giant steps back and go sit in the corner until you can behave like a fucking grown-up
Utterly baffled by this person who would rather be transferred to voicemail multiple times rather than let me go find the info they need and email it to them π€¨
Shout out to everyone who is still committed to trying to be an open-hearted and kind person even while having to process lots of heavy things.
When the enormity of the world's horrors makes you feel helpless, narrow your focus. Find one stranger and scold them for posting a recipe while kids are dying. Call out a new mom for not adding alt text to a baby photo. Critique a selfie. Correct a joke. Show people you care more than them.
if the boston tea party kept the price of tea down,
maybe we just need to throw more things into ocean.

2 dogs dressed in turtlenecks
These dogs look like the villains in a movie where a golden retriever wins a snowboarding tournament
I'm reminded here of something @alexandraerin.com wrote about a while back. The "Shirley Exception".
As in, "surely they'll have exceptions for situations like this. Surely no state would literally force people to give birth. Surely they would do..."
There is no Shirley.

It's wild to me that this asshole behavior is apparently so common, because not one person in my life has ever pressured me to drink. And I didn't drink at all until my mid 20s just bc I didn't want to, so I really should have been a prime target.
Unless you're a tipped worker, in which case it's $2.13. Yes, in 2023. Yes really.
Yeah from what I read the error rate is a feature not a bug. They want to deny ppl necessary medical care so they get richer. It's fucking despicable, not that I should be surprised
You can't know what you don't know. idk abt elsewhere but in the US the pro-Israel propaganda machine is so powerful it may surpass the pro-America machine. It can be hard to even realize there are other viewpoints, much less valid ones. Give ppl a break if they're just now finding their way out
Idk who needs to hear this, but your middle aged aunt whoβs level 13.739 on Candy Crush is as much of a hardcore gamer as you are
Yeah I think this is true. The issue is that people have different definitions of "good" and "positive impact"
Also I think there's an important distinction bw people who "try to be" good people and those who think they "are" good people (and therefore nothing they do could really be that bad)
lol not usually!
People like to help. The other week a group of buff dudes /lifted up my car/ to get me out of a stupid situation I had done to myself just because they happened to be there at that moment.
Bodies are a cursed and haunted soup of neurotransmitters and fucked up chemicals, and there's not a whole lot that willpower can do to change the specific cursed soup we were assigned!
kinda wild how many folks get this overwhelming feeling that they are not exceptional when everyone so obviously is. being incredible is what humans are BUILT for we come out of the box BENDING WORLDS. you are a wonder, the feeling that you are not is dead weight from deflated dreams of someone else
adhd is bullshit. i don't even get to choose what my brain likes. it just goes "hey fucko, time to drop $100 on modeling clay!" i am not in control. my brain is haunted by some old ass ham radio nerd and i am but his puppet. you think i WANT to be spending my early 30s researching maritime disasters
jfc if you're actually serious about a lawsuit going anywhere, the only thing you say about it publicly is "we cannot comment on pending/ongoing litigation" πππ
me, having injected Austen straight into my bloodstream over many years: I mean it's super obvious who could miss that??
