It’s a bit of a slog through busy industrial roads along the eastern side and it would be a good project for Council to create a shared path here for a full circuit.
A good way to get the body and mind ready for the week ahead.

My weekend bike ride was about 30 kms, an interesting route I have done a few times, which goes around the inner Manukau Harbour. I enjoy the shared path on the southern side which takes you through mangrove forests on winding boardwalks before emerging in Favona.
Note we have committed to bringing back Fair Pay Agreements, Pay Equity, & rolling back National’s anti-worker policies so that working people get a fair go.
Hi Rob. No, there is a lot more policy to come as we get closer to the election. No party is releasing their full offer at this early point. Tackling economic inequality is one of my drivers.
I speak with people every day who tell me about the very real and painful impacts of the affordability crisis.
Families, businesses, and communities are struggling, and this Government simply isn’t stepping up to the plate.
Labour is focused on delivering for hardworking people.
I’m holding a public meeting in Blockhouse Bay next Wednesday 22nd April from 7:30pm - 8:30pm at the Blockhouse Bay Community Centre. Among other things we’ll be discussing the site between Bolton St and Marlowe Rd, and how we want to shape it moving forward.
Over the coming month we will be rolling into other parts of Mt Roskill to help people enrol. We’d love your help - drop me a message below if you would like to volunteer.2/2
I’ve helped get 35 people enrolled in Roskill South over the last little while, with many more enrolled by our dedicated team of volunteers - including many first time voters!
We want everyone in Mt Roskill to be able to have their say this year and enrolment is the first step 1/2
I came back through West Park, which I think is one of the great hidden parks of Mt Roskill for kids - great playground, flying fox, and heaps of space to run around. Quite a hilly walk of around 9kms but very interesting and worthwhile. 2/2
My Easter weekend walk took me down to the Waikowhai Coast and through the tracks that wind their way around and through Hillsborough Cemetery. This is an historic part of our community with stunning views out to the Manukau Harbour. 1/2
It was a great to attend Nepal Day at Aotea Square yesterday celebrating the enormous contributions of our Nepalese community in New Zealand.
Fantastic food, warm people, and exciting music made this years celebrations feel both lively and incredibly rooted in a deep, rich, and beautiful culture.
Cyclone Vaianu is now approaching. While we don’t know exactly what the impacts will be, it is a major weather event and it is best to take it seriously. Check out AEM website for more information.

Along with Helen White, MP for Mt Albert and new Labour candidate for Takanini Kharag Singh I attended their AGM this morning.
We live in an environment in which harsh rhetoric and divisive politics seek to drive us apart, it is important we stand together to show that New Zealand is a better place.
The Indian Central Association is the peak body for the New Zealand Indian Community, and covers 22 local Indian associations from north to south. It celebrates its 100the anniversary this year, a reminder of the long history of contribution to New Zealand by the Indian community.1/2
Hear from the President of Auckland Greypower, Gillian Dance, about the importance of clear commitment to re-establishing 580 Hillsborough Rd as social housing for seniors.

The pic above is from Santuario della Verna, a very special place founded by St Frances of Assisi that I visited around this time last year when on the Via di Francesco pilgrimage walk in Northern Italy.3/3
At a time when our world seems in turmoil, hope for a peaceful and just future seems more important than ever. Whatever your background or creed I hope that you have some peace and special time with your loved ones this long weekend.2/3
Happy Easter Sunday all. It is the most important in the Christian tradition, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus. More broadly it signifies new life and beginnings for everyone, and the hope of something better on the other side of grief, death, and struggle.
Our firefighters put themselves at risk every day to keep us safe, and the Government’s treatment of our fire service is yet another stain on an already shameful record of cuts, neglect, and kicking the can down the road.
Auckland Council has spent $110,000 on a Kings Counsel lawyer to fight its own residents over off-leash dog access at Monte Cecilia Park.
It’s nuts! They should sit down and negotiate a sensible agreement to manage any issues at the park as Dog lovers of Monte Cecilia have proposed.
Hi Rob. It’s a terrible idea that looks worse with every passing day. Totally irresponsible for the current govt to be pushing on with it. We’ll do whatever we can to get out of it if elected.
Thanks!
My statement following the robbery at Dicey Reilley’s in Lynfield.
Well done to the trust on a great outcome that will be a community asset for many years to come. Let’s work to get the rest of it built! 3/3
It is the first stage of a visionary project led by the Te Whau Pathway trust and it was particularly satisfying to see the progress as it was financially supported by Labour in government and I was involved in keeping the funding in place after some initial delay.2/3
My weekend bike ride this week was to go and check out the newly opened Whau Pathway which comes off the north-western shared pathway at Te Atatu along the Whau river.1/3
Our leader Chris Hipkins, Helen White, Shanan Halbert, Vanushi Walters, and many more Labour MP’s and volunteers came out today, and once again CultureFest did not disappoint.
