The IMLS Propaganda Machine Is In Full Swing The agency overseeing U.S. libraries and museums is now full-on regime propaganda.

Don't forget that PragerU is who crafted the 14 million dollar "Freedom Trucks" project from the IMLS. They stole that money from us, the taxpayers, for a propaganda project.

Newark students vote in Board of Education elections Newark is the first city in New Jersey to allow 16 and 17-year-old students to vote in school board elections.

16 and 17 year olds get to vote in the Newark, New Jersey, school board election.

This should be the standard. Their lives are directly affected by whoever sits in those seats.

PragerU is now launching its own book fair to "compete" with scholastic. It sounds like they're maybe absorbing the SkyTrees Book Fairs, which started with the same nonsense.

Not sure what level, but as a h.s. librarian and former h.s. ELA teacher, I lean heavily into reading to write.

Nice skeet with some interesting readings in the replies. Reminder to me of when I used to teach a lot of writing, and read about how to teach writing. I should get back to more of this.

One of the many highlights of the event was a session on school libraries and we watched this short video on what having a library (and an excellent librarian!) means to some of the kids:

Our investigation found that the school in question targeted just under 200 titles from the school library shelves. The librarian was labeled a safeguarding risk and later resigned due to extreme stress.

These feminist books risk being banned in UK schools. We must fight to defend them The freedom to read is under threat.

"Book bans are not about protecting children – it’s an act of censorship, an act of control."

American Library Association Shares Book Ban Data, List of ‘Most Challenged’ Titles of 2025 - Publishing Perspectives U.S. librarians tracked 4,235 unique book challenges in 2025, nearly matching the record of 4,240 recorded in 2023, and almost double last year's count.

“2025’s censorship campaigns weren’t about protecting children—they were about erasing realities. A tiny cohort of people are trying to remove people’s lived experiences from library shelves.”

First off, please call your reps about HR 7661.

Secondly, Last Night at the Telegraph Club (on the list) is a masterpiece and everyone should read it.

Nancy Drew Mystery Stories - Wikipedia

Wife is reading the Nancy Drew books for the first time. Asked me when they were originally published. Top of my head, I say the 1940s. She concurs, asks why one is talking about NASA.

I hoped when we moved to Bluesky that I'd stop seeing authors follow some bad social media playbook of "follow anyone with librarian in their title so they will feel obligated to buy your book."

And yet.

It's National Library Week. Please learn about different types of librarians.

Frankly I think we should have kicked off National Library Week with "The Library is Dope"

The Shocking Secrets of Madison Square Garden's Surveillance Machine Famously vengeful Knicks owner Jim Dolan has long spied on people at his iconic arenas. WIRED goes deep inside the operation that allegedly tracked a trans woman, lawyers, protesters, and more.

Using facial recognition tech, the Knicks surveilled a trans woman, tracking her every move out of fear she'd show up on MSG's tv broadcast

And they can do it to any "enemy" of Jim Dolan, who's built his own deep state. From @noahshachtman.bsky.social & me @wired.com www.wired.com/story/madiso...
