This is true even in places like Utah that don't pay much for those jobs. Restaurants, grocery, and customer service jobs constantly try to reduce hours for employees.

You have more in common with the people of Iran than you do with anyone in this administration, any member of the technocracy, anyone who is profiting from this war, or any billionaire. When you see Iranians forming human chains outside key infrastructure sites, you should feel a sense of kinship.
I set up my booth tent yesterday for the first time in the back yard, to make sure it all works.
It made it feel more real. :D
I'm trying hard to keep my expectations low and remind myself that I'll make mistakes with my first market. It's still a huge step for me to try to sell my art in person.
You can hide all signs of ai in Affinity by removing the canva tab. The same team in the uk is still working on it for now. There's no forced ai use.
In order to use ai-assisted object selection, you have to choose to download the model for it. That was also there in Version 2 before acquisition.
It still threw me off the first time I got asked "You all right?" by airport security in the uk. It was different enough to think they wanted an actual answer.
Some of the earliest artwork that was availabble in the US for gen 1 was scanned/edited poorly. Ditto specifically was extremely washed out.
Other details (teeth, horns, size) weren't consistent from the early Sugimori watercolor art to the anime/later gen games. Lapras used to have prominent fangs.
Got a resin 3d printer.
I thought the warnings about the fumes and smell were exaggerated.
If anything, they weren't strong enough.
Goodness.
But the level of detail is amazing!
Thank you!! :D
That means a lot coming from someone who has *mastered* drawing cute animals!
Five 2"x8" bookmarks arranged on a 8.5"x11" page. The illustrations are digitally painted. One features a honeybee with berry blossom and berries against a hexagon background with gradient. One has a mallard duck dabbling in murky water. Another has a raccoon in a pile of Autumn leaves. Another has a carousel seahorse with the phrase, "Dive into a book." The last one has various produce that is grown locally.
Printed, laminated, tasseled bookmarks with previously shown designs set on top of a yellow notebook. A hole puncher and extra tassels are seen in the background.
I've had a lot of fun designing these bookmarks.
I know bookmarks are simple, but it's satisfying to have my #DigitalArt actually exist in the real world in a way I can hold it in my hands.
Digital paintings in #Rebelle 8, layout and final touches in #Affinity.
A page of various bug pokemon interpreted as realistic invertebrates. The pokemon drawn are caterpie, snom, nymble, sizzlepede, venipede, karrablast, farountula, blipbug, grubbin and scatterbug.
More bug pokemon interpreted as realistic invertebrates, plus a few non-bugs. The pokemon drawn are spinarak, wurmple, kricketot, oorthworm, larvesta, joltik, skoropi, sewaddle, weedle, dunsparce, and soleosis.
Finally drew the Bugs ✨ (plus a few friends)
Acrylic painting of a spider with a rose in place of their abdomen, sitting on top of a lace web. Flower petals are in each corner of the painting.
A small painting from 2020. No rulers used for the lace. Long ago I cleaned up a sketch with a ruler and it just didn't look as good. Perfect is boring. The little imperfections make things interesting.

Tent purchased, booth fee paid!
I don't sell fan art or anything like that to begin with, but I'm going to be focusing on creating *local*-inspired designs to try to be on theme for a local market, at least.
Local flora, fauna, fungi, fossils foremost; fantasy art if there's time.
Someone new is organizing a local market this Summer and the fees and hours are absolutely reasonable for once, and I think I should apply.
I've not jumped into these before, with all the usual excuses. But if I keep telling myself to wait until I'm polished or ready enough, I'll never do this.
Parts of the music even sound like they're taken from Tales of Graces.
There was a book I'd been waiting months for on Libby. Great reviews. interesting premise. Cool title.
It's the first book I've had to quit this year. None of the charcters were interesting-- most were just rich, and you have to work extra hard to make rich people interesting to me as a reader.
It's always "trying to bring about the rapture" and never the part of the bible about eliminating all debts.
If they were really serious about biblical teachings all loans (including credit card debt) would be wiped at the end of seven years
There are multiple siblings between the two of us, none of whom are at the same level.
My husband had more exposure to technology growing up than I was and is better at solving and fixing things than I am-- digital *and* analog. I think if I'd had similar opportunities, I'd be closer to his level.
In my immediate family, that role fell to me (40) and, later, my little bro, who also grew up on the Internet. With a 14 year gap between us, it was a different place for him than it was for me, but there's shared knowledge.
IME, it was due to time with tech more than a generational divide.
It doesn't feel like we've even had a winter in northern Utah. It helps to see it visualized.
There is almost no snow on the mountains. Its going to be a bad wildfire season with a lot of water stress.
It depends on where, though!
It's a big place. I could count on the jacarandas blooming, the santa ana winds, the hills' foliage changing, and seasonal allergies even in urban areas.
I'm in N Utah now, but our seasons here have lost their predictability; It's worse than LA in that sense, imo.
Digital sketch of the new pokémon Pombon, a small warm-colored fire pokemon based on a pomeranian. It's running to the viewer's left with its tongue hanging out and simplified fire behind it. Its name in large purple capital letters is under it, skewed to the back and right.
Little pombon has the zoomies.

Pombon alone may make me get a Switch 2 next year. Nintendo found my weakness.
I love pomeranians and pokemon.
I was working in grocery and Kroger told us we werent allowed to wear masks! They didnt want us to make customers uncomfortable at that point.
We know a lot more now, for sure.
Obviously it feels a lot more likely when it actually hits you. I just had the bad luck to get it first wave.
March 2020 and still have it, though improved since the worst of it.
Serebii Update: A special celebration video has been released for Pokémon's 30th Anniversary

Macro photo of a brown stink bug in face view on a leaf, guarding a tightly-clustered bunch of eggs that are shaped and colored exactly like a full tray of dark beer with foam on top.
Finally, the bug is back with a round of the Guinness.
A colorful poster illustration featuring 15 species of animals from the Cambrian period 541-485 million years ago. These are mostly unusual looking invertebrates, such as Hurdia, Wiwaxia, Anomalocaris, Peytoia, trilobites, Marrella, Nectocaris, Hallucigenia, Opabinia, Plectronoceras, Lyrarapax, and Naraoia. An early chordate (Pikaia) is also included. The animals are brightly colored on a dark black background. White numbers with a key label each species.
Creatures of the Cambrian period!
Some days, nothing I attempt to draw comes out right; There's some disconnect between my hand's coordination and my mind's ability to grasp shape and lines.
That's ok. I know it's temporary.
Maybe I need to just lose myself in a book or video game, art that others have created, and reset.
Surely they could use fish sauce if they're patient enough for fermentation.
(Did the right bacteria exist then?)
Digitally painted portrait of a horse looking to the viewers left, almost in profile view. It has a palomino coloring. The overall quality is left slightly rough and unfinished but attempts were made to try to keep the proportions realistic.
I've been learning Nomad Sculpt for a while, but took a break to make a quick 2D partial horse sketch in the hope that it will help me sculpt the 3D shapes of horse heads better. They're such weird animals.
