Dark Elves army painted by Airylan, between 2008 and now. Originally bought as a Spearhead box in 7th edition Warhammer Fantasy Battles.

The pictured army comprises:

10 Witch Elves;
10 Corsairs;
6 Scouts;
5 Cold One Knights;
10 Repeater Crossbows;
21 Spear Elves;
1 Repeater Bold Thrower;
1 Cold One Chariot;
1 Hero on Cold One;
1 Hero on foot;
1 Sorceress on Cold One;
1 Sorceress on foot;
Lokhir Fellheart.

This army will be finished when I paint my hydra and other repeater bolt thrower. And possibly 5 Dark Riders.

This army will be "Complete" when I add Executioners and Black Guard, which will satisfy the "20 nobles with heavy armour and two handed weapons" of 2nd edition minima. I also need 10 more Crossbow elves and 19 spear elves to meet 2nd and 3rd edition minima. Then I can play every Warhammer Fantasy Battles edition with this army!

I laid out my Dark Elves on the table for an army shot. Everything here is done, but I have a Hydra and another bolt thrower to paint eventually. That'll be "finished".

"Completed" will be with Executioners and Black Guard and minima for 2nd and 3rd.

I was there... I was there when GW was originally printing female Bretonnian knights! In the time of 5th edition, not just Repanse de Lyonesse, but Thomas Pirinen's tournament army had the wife of the Duke as army standard bearer, and there it was in White Dwarf.

Everything always changes.

The "jeep" is in fact the apex of Sentinel design. Much better than "egg" or "AT-ST"

It's a very nice army!

A picture of three Warhammer Fantasy 5th edition armies ranked up and facing off.

There is a Bretonnian army with some Grail Knights, Knights of the Realm, a block of spears with hero and sorceress, a unit of archers, and a knight riding a Pegasus.

There's a Dark Elves army with some scouts, Witch Elves, Cold One Knights, Repeater Crossbows, and a block of spear elves with a sorceress.

The Undead have a surprisingly small unit of skeletons with hand weapons, accompanies by a liche, necromancer, and wight; a unit of 10 bow skeletons; 5 mummies; 6 ghosts; a white lord on skeletal steed, and 3 wraiths.

I laid out my Warhammer Fantasy armies just for fun. These are each about 2000 points of 5th edition lists.

The Bretonnians just need pennants and standards, the Dark Elves are almost done, and the Undead is... Mostly just what's here, and is going to be repainted.

Airylan's PaintSlam26 hobby log, showing a near complete sheet. The total minis painted so far shows 74 on the last line. There are three blank lines on this first page of log. The entries cover Warhammer both Fantasy and 40k, BattleTech, Cyberpunk Red Combat Zone, Warzone Eternal, and one off miniatures.

I've been using the log this year, and it's done wonders for remembering what I've actually done. While my main goal is "finish projects", I also tend to gauge myself vs 10 / month (or 120 / year), just to check in on how I'm doing. ... I'm at 70-something so far!

... And then there was the story where one list member went paintballing with a back banner, didn't get hit, but the banner ate a lot of paint...

... Was hoping to keep to one post, but I remember one picture from the 40k list days of someone modeling 10 Marines sitting in the passenger compartment of the mark 1 Rhino, and had to share the memory. Unfortunately I don't have the picture and can't remember if they were RTB01s now.

I really appreciate the retweet bois, and particularly like your very clean Lamenters yellow.

Not my particular brand of nostalgia, I'm much more a 2nd edition gal myself. But I absolutely heard the glories of them from the then keepers of the history on the email list...

Tyger Claws gang painted by Airylan. They're set up mainly on the Cyberpunk Red Combat Zone terrain. They are teal and cream with other spot colours, and swords with a glazed gradient of black to a bright colour, varied by miniature.

Finished up the Tyger Claws gang for Cyberpunk Red Combat Zone. Took me a while to get to them, as I wasn't sure how to give them an identity. Settled on teal and cream, with glowy swords.

Also, enjoy a picture with their rivals, the Maelstrom.

My "Bag of Holding" that I got years ago from ThinkGeek is the best bag I have owned. Holds more than you would expect too.

I don't know if the revived bags are as good.

1500 point 2nd edition 40k Blood Angels army painted by Airylan. Some of the minis are on a strong point made out of cardstock from old white dwarf templates.

Bretonnian knights painted by Airylan. There's still a few just with primer, but a unit of Grail Knights, Knights Errant, and Knights of the Realm are done except for banners and pennants.

This army is intended for 5th edition Warhammer Fantasy

Bretonnian infantry and mounted squires. Painted by Airylan. Though there's more of these unpainted than the knights, completed units include foot squires, spears with knight and sorceress, halberds with knight, and archers. And the Bowmen of Bergerac.

Far more than strictly needed for 5th edition Warhammer Fantasy true...

A bit late for the trans day of visibility, but I'm a trans gal who paints minis, generally focusing on older GW games, but not exclusively.

Here's a 2nd edition 40k army and 5th edition fantasy army actualizing what I've dreamed of since 1997, and a modern BattleTech set for range :)

I need to stress I am not a doomer. Trans folks are not going anywhere. We have always been here, we will always be here. No amount of bigotry and hate will change that.

But it is deeply, soul-wrenchingly exhausting to spend my entire transition watching cis folks--as a broad group--care LESS.

Thanks! Vallejo Vermilion, then GW Flesh Tearers Red in the top left, along the bottom and right, a layer of GW wild rider red and GW fire dragon bright, and a dot or two of white in the top left.

The trick is to do each panel this way, and the ones on the right side invert the left-right.

The Opposition Force from BattleTech Aces Scouring Sands painted by Airylan. They're painted in the Jade Falcon Eta Galaxy scheme of green with black panels, with red cockpits.

The force is two tanks, a Howler, a Locust IIC, Rifleman IIC, Thunderbold IIC, Summoner, Marauder IIC, and Bane 3

Finished up the Jade Falcon opposition force for my #BattleTech Scouring Sands campaign. Tried out Vallejo Xpress Colour over a grey prime, wash, and dry brush underpainting. Would've benefitted from more manual placement of light and shadow, but I'm happy enough.

Gothghul Hollow is my favourite Age of Sigmar novel, but it is a smaller scale Gothic Horror novel. But it is not only a very good Gothic Horror novel, it's also a pretty good look at how life could happen in the Age of Sigmar setting.

Slightly cheaty old school bases. Used a Vallejo texture paste instead of sand :) but used a Goblin Green remake and yellow dry brush as is only right and correct :D

I made a one tower and this two tower version. I'm tempted to make a three tower version with different detailing.

I painted these up as gifts and now they have been received, I can post these pictures. One is Princess, the Dice Wizard (based on the Necrovite Starfinder mini from Archon) and the other is a Jackal in Stargateish style from Warmachine Mini Crate.
